As Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth major installment in the series, is on the verge of release, it's clear that the game's development team is thinking about the future. They will of course want to get off to a good start with this, but their gears have been turning for some time.
I spoke with Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi at the Tokyo Game Show last year and asked him if there were any plans to reimagine Resident Evil Outbreak, the game where Ashcroft's story began, to which he was told, “Not only Outbreak, I'd love to have the chance to make all kinds of great Resident Evil games in the future.”
Now we might have a hint of what other “great” Resi games the team would like to make, as in a new interview Nakanishi said it would be “interesting” to revisit Resident Evil Revelations.
Resident Evil Revelations would be “interesting” to revisit, Requiem director says
Speaking in the latest round of Resident Evil Requiem promotions, Nakanishi was asked by Japanese outlet 4Gamer if there were any plans to release a new Revelations game set among the latest Resident Evil titles. It's clearly something Nakanishi had in mind.
Resident Evil Requiem is a full circle moment for the survival horror icon
Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft are a match made in survival horror heaven.
“I was thinking about what people in the Resident Evil universe do to some extent,” he told 4Gamer. “I think it would be interesting if the opportunity arose.

The Revelations series of Resident Evil games tend to expand on the story or fill in the gaps of what happened between previous titles. The original follows the events of Resident Evil 4, helmed by Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield, and Revelations 2 is an episodic story set after the events of Resident Evil 5.
Considering the series has come so far since those days, a new series of Revelations games would be fascinating. If you've always wondered what Leon was up to during the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, or perhaps what Ada Wong was up to during the Village, Nakanishi might be able to help.
