The popular MMORPG is heading to Xbox

Developer Sandbox Interactive has just confirmed that its MMORPG Albion online heading to Xbox consoles in Spring 2026. This upcoming Xbox release will be the first Albion online has been ported to home console, currently only available on PC and mobile.

Set in a medieval fantasy world inspired by Arthurian legend, Albion online first released in July 2017. Although it shares a name with the primary setting Fable franchise, it's not related to the action RPG series at all. IN Albion onlineplayers start by creating their own character, but unlike other popular MMORPGs, they do not choose a starting class. Instead, Albion online allows players to switch classes on the fly by equipping different sets of armor and items. Although almost ten years old, Albion online still brings in a sizable player base, with tracking site SteamDB claiming the game has a 24-hour peak player count of over 12,000, about half Final Fantasy 14Steam 24 hour peak but double Star Wars: The Old Republic'with.

Albion Online is coming to Xbox Series X/S

Albion online is officially coming to the Xbox Series X/S, which was confirmed by developer Sandbox Interactive on January 21st, but was recently highlighted by PureXbox. This announcement came as part of Albion onlineRoadmap 2026, which details new faction features, new events, and brings a complete visual overhaul to the nine-year-old MMORPG. This Xbox version will be the first time Albion online has been ported to console, and as Sandbox Interactive's announcement says, it's “a huge milestone in Albion's cross-platform journey.” Not much information was provided Albion onlineThe Xbox version, though Sandbox has confirmed that it will feature a new “UI navigation flow” specifically designed to make the experience smoother when using the Xbox controller. Sandbox's announcement also said that this Xbox port “opens the door for possible further expansions of the console in the future,” referring to a potential PS5 version.

Spring is supposed to be quite a busy time Albion online. Along with the Xbox port Albion online is set to receive the first major content update of 2026 in early spring. This update will include the visual overhaul mentioned above Albion online's open world, as well as “significant performance improvements,” a new 1v1 PvP arena, and a new Armory feature that will allow players to explore and experiment with new builds. A limited time “Keeper Event” is also set to take place right after the release.
