The unusual rare bug Sunburst Batterfly is a dark blue and orange butterfly that many players can find while exploring Elderwood. More specifically, Sunburst Butterfly spawns in the Elderwood Forest biomeincluding Mitana Grove, Honeymiel Slope, Jeunesse Pass and Deep Woods areasbetween daily 6 a.m. and 6 p.mas shown below:
It is also possible for Sunburst Batterflies to spawn in the Lilac Cavern area, but we highly recommend the above locations first. You can use any smoke bombsbut we prefer Sneaky or Sticky Smoke Bombs because they don't alert bugs or slow them down when thrown on bugs.
Like most of the collectors and bugs that call Elderwood home, the Sunburst Batterfly can be infected, making it more difficult to catch. As such, you can craft and use Elderwood Smoke Bombs or have relic Bag of Illusion II active during your farming and mining.
In addition to the Sunburst Butterfly, other unique bugs can be caught in the same area during the day. If you're trying to get achievements why not throw a bug catching party by taking a couple Honey baits and Smoke Bombs and using Party Chat to signal a nearby party?
What are Sunburst Butterflies in Palia for?
In addition to contributing progress to several in-game achievements such as the Catch Bugs and Bug Catcher achievement streaks, Sunburst Butterfly is a quest item that must be caught for the Daily Quest, Burst of Sunlight. If you receive this daily quest, completing it will earn you three custom tickets that can help you unlock new hair and makeup looks for your character in the game.
Sunburst Butterfly can be an item needed to craft QualityUp Fertilizer, but it is also an item needed for Elderwood Idol II. Finally, if you're lucky enough to catch a star-quality Sunburst Batterfly, you can place it anywhere on your Housing Plot as a decoration item, sell it for some extra gold, or gift it to the village NPC, Auni, to increase your friendship with him.
