'Snoozefest' WoW Current 12.0 Pre-Patch Limbo Is A Bonafide Waiting Room

The clock almost struck Midnight in World of Warcraft. The highly-anticipated expansion will officially arrive on March 2nd, bringing with it a stunning redesign of Quel'Thalas and Zul'Aman, two more brand new zones, the allied race Haranir, and plenty of dungeons, dives, and raids. While The war within was a solid expansion, many fans have been looking forward to this second chapter of the Worldsoul Saga since it was originally announced. It is no exaggeration to say that this may be the most important World of Warcraft expansion after a long time.

Unfortunately, there is only a month left until the end Midnight's launch, and while World of Warcraft: Midnight The Pre-Expansion Update has been live for a few weeks now, it's a bit undercooked. Missing from the stunning Pre-Patch event is the fourth season of raids The war withinand little more than repeating events to pass the time, World of Warcraft it is right now in the liminal space between expansions. It's a good thing February is the shortest month of the year because World of Warcraft: Midnight's Pre-Patch has about as much excitement as a doctor's waiting room.

World of Warcraft: Midnight's Pre-Patch Event is pretty boring

Pre-Patch event for World of Warcraft: Midnight is called Twilight Ascension. This activity has three main aspects:

  • A short series of quests that takes the player to the Twilight Highlands as a prelude to midnight.

  • World quests, one or two of which appear every day.

  • A rotating cycle of rare spawns that can be killed for equipment and event currency.

That's all. In addition to the two weekly tasks that can be completed through the aforementioned repeatable activities, there is a collection World of Warcraft cosmetics and achievements and two easily attainable achievements, not much to write home about. The questline was fun and gives fans a closer look at the relationship between Umbric and Rommath, two prominent characters Midnight. Otherwise, the Pre-Patch event is forgettable. Not necessarily bad, but not particularly good either.

If someone asks for a dozen World of Warcraft players would get a dozen different answers as to what makes a good Pre-Patch event. Some will praise World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Pre-Patch because of how unique and fun Zombie Infestation was, while others will deride it as being too invasive. Some claim that with their widespread demonic invasions, doomsayers and dark whispers Legion was the best of all events before the fix. The others are still watching Battle for Azeroth as an ideal, as The Burning of Teldrassil and The Battle of Lordaeron were rich in story and deeply shaped the story of the expansion, despite its many flaws.

But no one will be watching Shadows, Dragonflightor The war within Events before the repair v World of Warcraft when choosing which ones are the highest levels. This is largely because they all follow the same general format: a short story intro to a rare spawn train, possibly with some other small repeatable activity or weekly quest. It's a repeating pattern that World of Warcraft falls into already many years, namely one Midnight unfortunately it happened again.

The Shadows The Pre-Patch arrived in October 2020, right at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. WoW: DragonflightThe November 2022 Pre-Patch hits after major major changes in the post-pandemic world that led directly to a faster release cadence The war within. It's not a logical leap to imagine that these factors affected the quality of events and updates before the last few expansions were patched.

Comparison of The War Within and Midnight's Pre-Patch limbs

Unfortunately, it's not just the lackluster Twilight Ascension event that has done this Midnight Pre-Patch feels empty. Although it also only had three runs, WoW: Dragonflight had Season 4, which served as the “biggest hit” for the expansion, providing Awakened raids, new rewards and achievements, and more. The war within it didn't have anything like that because Season 3 ended right when the pre-expansion update started on January 20th. This means fewer late-game goals and milestones to focus on, and only a tepid Pre-Patch event to otherwise occupy players' time.

World of Warcraft: The War Within was the first Worldsoul Saga expansion, signaling a drastic shift in speed and priorities. Most extensions last around 24 months, give or take. While Dragonflight21 month duration was fast, The war within it lasted only about 18 months – a full six months faster than the average. Shorter time between content drops reduces development time, which means some things will suffer as a result. For The War Within, this was reflected in a modest 11.x.5 patches with no new ones World of Warcraft story content, the absence of season 4, and now the boring pre-expansion update Midnight.

There's still a lot to do before World of Warcraft: Midnight

Fortunately, there are still a few things players can do earlier Midnighteven regardless of the Pre-Patch event. Although the achievements in season 3 are gone, the evergreen achievements for The war within are still available, as are special mounts from the Heroic and Mythic Manaforge Omega raid, delve progress, and Brawler's Guild. What's more, fans can easily while away the hours playing around with new UI options like Boss Warnings, trying drastic class changes, decorating their house, or playing with World of Warcraftthe new Transmog system.

Besides, a month before Midnight is packed with events. World of WarcraftThe latest Turbulent Timeways ends on February 10th, just in time for Love is in the Air, the 16th Lunar Festival and the 24th Outland Cup to start on the 9th. Additionally, the Winds of Mysterious Fortune event continues, providing a fantastic way to level up before the expansion. Even so, none of these things are particularly exciting, and a few new holiday rewards won't be enough to shake things up much.

  • Turbulent Timeways: Now – February 10th

  • Winds of Mysterious Fortune: Now – February 24th

  • Love is in the Air: 9-23 February

  • Lunar Festival: February 16–February 2 march

  • The flood Timewalking: 17.-23. February
  • Hippogryph Hatching: 23-24 February

  • Outland Cup February 24 – March 10

  • Midnight Early Access: February 26
  • Midnight Launch: March 2nd

Luckily, March 2nd is right around the corner, and early access for Epic Edition users starts on February 26th, almost a week early. The wait can be excruciating, but luckily there isn't much time left before the receptionist calls us. World of Warcraft: Midnight looks like it's full of awesome content but hopefully an update before the pro extension The Last Titanwhich will be released in about a year and a half, will be a bit more interesting than its predecessor.
