A new cross platform game called A bloody message comes from 24 Entertainment Lin'an Studio, a division of 24 Entertainment that previously developed Naraka: Bladepoint. But A bloody messagewith its historical Chinese focus and decidedly Sony-like cinematic flair, it feels much more like God of War or The Black Myth of Wukong than any multiplayer experience has ever managed.
24 Entertainment is a subsidiary of Thunder Fire Studio, which is itself a subsidiary of gaming giant NetEase, publisher of popular online games such as Marvel Rivals.
A bloody message aims to add to the ever-growing catalog of modern, high-profile Chinese action-adventures, a category that includes The Black Myth of Wukong and Wuchang: Fallen Feathersand will soon encapsulate titles like Phantom Blade 0 and Tides of Annihilation also. But what makes it unique? A bloody message it's that unlike many other contemporary Chinese action games, it's much more grounded and purposeful in its gameplay and presentation. Players follow a messenger and his son in the Tang Dynasty, which ruled a significant portion of the Chinese mainland from the seventh to the tenth century. It's a linear, story-driven adventure that, despite its grand presentation, is said to have no explicit mythological or fantasy elements, making it something of a period piece of gaming and a potential breath of fresh air in the AAA space.
What is Blood Message about?
The story of Blood Message is deeply rooted in Chinese history
Rather than putting the player in the shoes of a powerful soldier, superhuman deity or world leader, A bloody message focuses on relatively ordinary characters, which the game's developers say is intentional. The game is about ordinary people trying to survive in the midst of extraordinary historical events.
The extraordinary historical events listed here relate to the Shazhou Rebellion. In the mid-ninth century, the Shazhou and Guazhou regions were conquered by Tibetan forces, prompting the Tang dynasty general and politician Zhang Yichao to send ten groups of messengers to bring news of the conquest to the Tang capital Chang'an. While it's not entirely clear why the son, who appears to be just a teenager, embarks on this journey alongside his father, the pairing could make for a classic kind of “sad dad” narrative, for better or for worse.
In any case, the distance between Shazhou and Chang'an is about 1000 miles, which suggests it A bloody message will be a story of epic proportions. The quality of the game's writing remains to be seen (it's not like Naraka: Bladepoint has a traditional storyline that would demonstrate 24 Entertainment's storytelling skills), but at least we can be sure that A bloody message will offer a variety of different environments and scenarios across ancient China that, with luck, will support compelling and unpredictable narrative rhythms.
Blood Message looks like God of War mixed with Assassin's Creed
Despite an unusually strong run A bloody messageThe trailer reveals that it doesn't offer much actual gameplay footage. It certainly shows what appearance like the gameplay, and maybe that's what it is, but these sequences feel a little too scripted and fluid to be a real deal. I might be wrong, but that's my impression.
Still, the footage from the trailer at least offers solid hints of what A bloody message the gaming experience will be similar. It assumes a third-person perspective, with the camera positioned just behind the player character's back. This, combined with the slow, brutal fighting style of the main character, strengthens God of War comparisons raised by the game's cinematic approach, not to mention its obvious adherence to AAA tropes such as pushing through narrow corridors.
Unlike God of Waralthough, A bloody message will feature a mix of stealth and action gameplay that, when set in the historically accurate setting of ancient China, reminds me more than a little of Assassin's Creed. A stealth style that is more focused on animation and cinematography than emerging stealth sandboxes like those Metal Gearis quite ACLikewise: players will be able to kill enemies from behind walls, under ledges and from above, all with devastating coolness.
It will be quite interesting to see how A bloody message he also uses his companions. The protagonist's son will seemingly be heavily involved in the game as an ally, but A bloody message The reveal trailer also showcases some other companions, such as a mysterious woman and a man with a wand, both of whom appear to speak in riddles. They are shown helping the protagonist during potential platforming sections, and one snippet from the trailer even suggests that players can coordinate with friendly NPCs during stealth sections. Naturally, A bloody message has a lot of inspiration when it comes to designing great companion characters with similar characters God of War and Uncharted games are potential sources of knowledge in this respect.
