Amazon has officially cast Atreus in their upcoming God of War series

Amazon has officially revealed that young actor Callum Vinson will portray Atreus, the son of Kratos, in the upcoming PlayStation adaptation. God of War. The series seems to skip over the original God of War games set in Greece, instead focusing on the events of the 2018 title that revived the franchise. While some fans expressed disappointment with the decision to start with one of the franchise's later entries, the 2018 God of War served as an entry point for many players who did not play the original games.

Atreus was first introduced in 2018 God of War as the son of Kratos and plays an integral role in the main story of the game. Despite being the son of Kratos, Atreus and Kratos don't start out on a great relationship. Callum Vinson to portray Atreus in Amazon's God of War series

Amazon and Sony have revealed that actor Callum Vinson will portray Atreus in the upcoming season God of War adaptation set to stream on Prime Video. The young actor already has an impressive string of credits under his belt, having appeared in projects like Poker Face, Chuckyand Long clear river. Recently, he also wrapped the so-called Crystal Lakewhere he portrays a young version of horror icon Jason Voorhees. Atreus is likely to be unlike anything the actor has done before, as he will be tasked with portraying a young god who is paired with one of the game's most notable characters.

It was also recently revealed that Amazon has chosen actor Ryan Hurst to portray Kratos God of Warwhich came as a surprise to fans of the franchise. Ryan Hurst appeared in God of War franchise before taking on the role of Thor v Ragnarök. Hurst has also achieved great success outside of video games, appearing in major productions such as Think of the Titans, Sons of Anarchyand The Walking Dead. Christopher Judge, who portrayed Kratos in 2018, posted on Twitter God of War and 2022 God of War Ragnarökcongratulated Ryan Hurst on getting the role.
