Romeo Is A Dead Man gives players a solid arsenal of melee weapons and weapons to switch on the fly, and mastering this variety is key to surviving its blood-soaked combat encounters. Each weapon has its own movement, rhythm and strengths, meaning some will click with certain playstyles much more than others.
But not all weapons are created equal – some are simply more versatile, more powerful, or more practical in the wide variety of situations the game throws at you. Here's how each weapon in Romeo Is A Dead Man stacks up, broken down into separate rankings for melee weapons and weapons.
Every melee weapon, rated
4. Juggernaut
The Juggernaut is a pair of steel fists, and there's no denying the inner satisfaction of pummeling enemies up close with it. The speed is solid and the animations are engaging, making it one of the most fun weapons to use.

Rather than magic or skills, Romeo is a Dead Man gives you… monstrous, strange humanoids to summon.
The problem is the range – or rather the complete lack of it. Getting into striking range with the Juggernaut means putting yourself directly in danger's way, and against enemies that hit hard or have wide attacks, it's hard to justify the tradeoff. There are specific fights where the Juggernaut's speed makes it viable, but in most scenarios other melee weapons accomplish what it does while keeping you at a much safer distance.
3. Star Destroyer
The Star Destroyer is a great sword that hits like an absolute truck. Each swing carries a huge amount of weight and damage, and landing a full combo on an enemy is one of the most satisfying feelings in the game. However, this power comes at a steep price: the Star Destroyer is painfully slow. His cooldowns leave you vulnerable, and committing to an attack against a fast or unpredictable enemy can punish you severely.
It's a weapon that rewards patience and precise timing, but the skill level is noticeably high compared to other options. Players looking to train can get great results out of it, but I found the Arcadia to offer a comparable level of performance with much more flexibility, making the Star Destroyer hard to recommend as a primary weapon.
2. Spazer
The Spazer is a katana that embodies speed and fluidity. His fast slashing allows you to weave in and out of combat with ease, racking up hits and building up your blood gauge efficiently. For general scouting and most standard enemy encounters, the Spazer is probably the most comfortable weapon in the game – it's responsive, its combos flow naturally, and it rarely lets you overattack.
Where Spazer starts to show its limitations is against the game's stronger bosses. His single hits lack the raw damage needed to quickly plow through large health pools, which can make some of the tougher encounters feel tedious. It's a fantastic all-rounder, but it doesn't make the top tier for that reason.
1. Arcadia
Arcadia is a spear that consists of two parts and is the best melee weapon in Romeo Is A Dead Man by a comfortable margin. What makes it special is its adaptability – it bridges the gap between the raw power of a Star Destroyer and the speed of a Spazer in a way that feels tailor-made for combat in the game.
His range is excellent, keeping you at a safe distance while dealing heavy damage, and his moveset is diverse enough to handle mobs, one-on-ones with nastier Rotters, and boss fights without ever feeling like the wrong tool for the job. Where other weapons force you to play around their weaknesses, Arcadia simply doesn't ask you to compromise.
If you're looking for a melee weapon to invest your upgrade materials in, this is it.

4. Discovery
The Discovery is your default pistol, and while it's a reliable weapon in the early hours, it's quickly outclassed by the rest of your arsenal. Its damage is modest, and while it does well at range, it doesn't offer anything that higher-end weapons can't do better.
Nebuchadnezzar matches his accuracy with much more damage, and Diaspora easily overpowers him in most practical situations. The Discovery isn't a bad weapon by any means – it's functional and easy to use – but once you've unlocked the other weapons and experimented with them, there's very little reason to keep it in your arsenal.
3. Yggdrasil
Yggdrasil is a rocket launcher and provides everything you would expect from this description. The damage per shot is unmatched across the entire weapon list, and the blast radius means you don't need pinpoint accuracy to make it count. It's incredibly satisfying to fire into a cluster of enemies or land a direct hit on a boss' weak spot for massive damage.
Predictably, the catch is in the reload speed – the Yggdrasil takes a very long time to alternate between shots, and this downtime can expose you to the heat of battle. It's a weapon best used for deliberate, high-impact moments rather than sustained firefights, which limits its overall versatility compared to the top two weapons.
2. Diaspora
The Diaspora shotgun hits the sweet spot between performance and practicality. Its damage per shot is strong, its charge rate is reasonable, and it works well against both standard enemies and bosses. Up close, it can quickly chip away at enemy health, and at mid-range it remains effective enough to be worth using.
What puts Diaspora so highly is its consistency – it doesn't excel in any one area like Yggdrasil with raw damage or Nebuchadnezzar with sustained fire, but it rarely feels like a bad choice in any given matchup. It's the kind of reliable, no-nonsense weapon that earns its place through sheer reliability.
1. Nabuchodonozor
The Nebuchadnezzar is the machine gun of the game and takes the top spot for being the single most useful weapon in Romeo Is A Dead Man. Its rate of fire makes it ideal for tracking down fast-moving enemies that other weapons struggle to pick up, and it's exceptionally good at taking out weak spots quickly and efficiently.
The raw damage per bullet is low, but the sustained power more than makes up for it, especially when you use it as a support tool alongside a heavy melee weapon like an Arcadia or Star Destroyer. This pairing—a powerful melee weapon for melee damage and a Nebuchadnezzar for ranged pressure—is one of the most effective loadout combinations in the game. It's versatile, practical and consistently valuable from start to finish.
