While Overwatch officially overtaken Marvel Rivals in terms of player count, the two hero shooters will undoubtedly compete for a long time to come, complementing each other at every turn. For gamers like myself who adore both games and see them as “two cakes”, this competition is a godsend and hopefully will continue to innovate both titles in the years to come. Overwatch exceeding Marvel Rivals will inevitably lead to NetEase releasing a major update of their own, potentially including a PvE element that Overwatch he left And in the meantime, players can continue to compare their existing items, with cosmetics being just one of many categories to look at.
Both of these hero shooters have consistently great skins, and that hasn't changed in recent weeks. After the player was swept away by Lady Loki, Marvel Rivals she's since released an event pass that gives Rocket a Panda costume and Jeff a dirty outfit, and these skins are as cute as they sound. On Overwatch up front, Blizzard kicked off Season 1 with a new Mercy Mythic and a lore-themed Battle Pass that sticks completely to the concept, all of which are phenomenal. And to top it all off, both games gifted players with romantic cosmetics to celebrate Valentine's Day. In the spirit of the holiday and the ongoing rivalry between these two games, it's worth looking at which game makes better use of this particular concept.
Emma Frost from Marvel Rivals would be an average dress to impress players and I can't stand it
Marvel Rivals players have a lot of issues with the game, although my frustrations differ from others as the main thing that annoys me the most is my main's fashion.
Marvel Rivals takes a tradition-driven approach to Valentine's Day
While her brief fling with Magneto is something many X-Men fans try to ignore, Rogue's romance with Gambit is as beloved as it gets. The wild southern belle and the Cajun card thrower have an excellent dynamic Rivals went all in because the couple is married in the NetEase multiverse. In honor of Mr. and Mrs. X's wedding, NetEase released a special pack containing the bride and groom's outfits on the season 5 opening cards and gallery cards.
In addition to these two skins, the pack includes Mr and Mrs. X:
-
2 sprays
-
2 animated name tags
-
2 emotions
-
1 main introduction (applicable to both Gambit and Rogue)
This is the second proper set of wedding skins Marvel Rivalssince Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman also got a suit and dress some time ago. IN Marvel RivalsSeason 6.5 Update, Fantastic Four outfits have been updated with special Ultimate VFX. Storm also has a wedding outfit, but Black Panther still lacks one.

While two skins isn't much for Valentine's Day, as there are plenty of characters that players would like to see some pink and red skins for, it's hard to complain about quality over quantity. Both of these skins are truly phenomenal; I love the colors, hairstyle and suit design for Gambit. And as someone who likes to play Vanguard (especially Rogue), I grabbed her wedding dress as soon as I could. The earrings, gold and white combo, and hair are amazing on this Rogue skin, and I love that her engagement ring is clearly visible. Sure, some may nitpick — maybe they'd prefer a longer dress on Rogue or Gambit's stubble from the initial art — but I personally couldn't be happier with these outfits.
Overwatch 2 is showering players with high-end skins for Valentine's Day
While Overwatch does not include any popular ships with Valentine's Day skins Marvel Rivals yes, it makes up for it with a huge amount of memorable cosmetics. Overwatch has a history of celebrating Valentine's Day with skins like Cupid Hanzo and more Loverwatch dating sim and thankfully it keeps the series alive in 2026. All the following skins are available in Overwatch right now:
-
Heartbreaker Lifeweaver
-
Heartbreaker Danger
-
Heartbreaker Domino
-
Amor Juno
-
Cupid Kiriko
-
Charming Soldier: 76
-
Romantic Symmetra
The vast majority of these skins look great, although some are clearly better than others. For example, Hazard's Heartbreaker skin is decent enough, but a bit basic and similar to his basic outfit. Lifeweaver's looks good with the stained glass petal on the back, but ultimately it's a repaint of his Eros design and not every player likes Overwatch goes the repainting route. Fortunately, Domina underlines this fashion theme with a truly phenomenal design that differs from her basic look, and because she is one of OverwatchThe five new heroes are not recolors of existing legendaries. I really love this one; Am I biased because I quickly became obsessed with her personality and gameplay? Yes, I am. But still, the outfit is appropriately flashy and elegant, the way her extra Hardlight pendants make the broken heart really bring out the skin theme, and her upe is gorgeous.
Symmetry skin? Stunning as I love the winged weapon, heavily styled hair and pastel purple arm. Kiriko skin? Another win for the ever-spoiled Kiriko community (I play Mercy a lot, so I can't really judge) because the short pink hair, pink accents, and themed healing ofuda all look great together. Juno skin? Yes, it is also a winner; I especially dig the arrow on the end of her blaster, as well as the loose white outfit and hairdo, as it all comes together to help Juno capture the Cupid theme much better than Kiriko (although Kiri still looks great). Really, the only skin I don't have much to say about is Charming Soldier: 76. Sure, I know most of the skins have no lore, but it just feels weird and out of character to see. Overwatch's residence dad dressed like this. Even his face looks a little confused, so while I appreciate the knight-like armor, this is a pass for me. I just never wanted to play as A Shrek 2 villain, personally.
Overwatch reveals massive patch notes for relaunch with Reign of Talon Season 1: Conquest
Overwatch begins its ambitious reboot with the start of Reign of Talon Season 1: Conquest, complete with a massive set of patch notes.
And the winner is… Overwatch – here's why
This was a surprisingly difficult choice for me, but it depends on a few different things. Obviously, the number of skins needs to be considered. Of all the skins highlighted here, my favorite is undoubtedly Rogue; I love her dress and hair, I play with her tons, and the costume symbolizing her bond with Gambit adds a special touch. However, I wouldn't trade this skin for the Domino, Juno, Kiriko, and Symmetra outfits because they all look great too (and I really needed a proper Domino skin because she's so much fun). It's a case of two really stellar skins against six very good ones (and Charming: 76 is… well, sorry, not sorry), and in a game where a lot of the fun comes from playing a bunch of unique characters, quantity matters. But there's a more important reason than just the number of skins that helped me pick a winner: how the skins are handled.
OverwatchThe Valentine cosmetic is sold in the shop like any other skin and boasts the usual price of the pack (or a bit more in the case of Domina, as she has an emotive and highlighted intro in addition to the outfit). As always, players who just want to get a skin can do so through the hero gallery and don't have to spend more than the displayed price to get what they want. Unfortunately with the new Gambit and Rogue skins RivalsThe controversial gacha system is back. In theory, this could be seen as a good thing, as players could get skins and all other items on their very first burst bubble (getting a skin instantly unlocks everything else). In fact, the chances of this happening are so low that most players end up spending 3,000 units to get everything, unlocking the skins on the last turn.
While I wasn't worried about it Marvel Rivals” The gacha system, when it came to Psylock's new year skin, since it was realistically beneficial for a single hero, everyone was worried that it might be a slippery slope, now they have been proven right. Having two skins tied to the same amount of gambling is problematic because players are likely to spend a lot more than they would normally spend. The overlap between Gambit and Rogue networks is probably not that big, since they are Strategist and Vanguard respectively. From this the reason is probably a lot of players who just wanted the Rogue items and vice versa, but are forced to get both through this system.Unlike the Psylocke skin, which could be seen as either a full price pack or something that lucky players got cheaper, players who only want Rogue or Gambit will probably end up spending more than they would normally pay, because of this lack of transparency I can say Overwatch celebrated Valentine's Day better this year.
