Overwatch Season 1 is here and with the new launch comes five brand new heroes that are drawing many players back to the hero shooter. Overwatch's huge update proves to be a success because it not only outperforms Marvel Rivals on Steam (a platform that Overwatch he's more or less treated as an afterthought thanks to battle.net), but his Twitch numbers have skyrocketed. While it will be interesting to see what happens when the Twitch Drops end and the hype dies down, OverwatchThe return of the user was impressive to watch – although some Rivals fans were quick to criticize the game for “stealing” concepts from their hero shooter.
Obviously, this is a flawed criticism given how much Marvel Rivals borrowed from Overwatch. Sure, the heroes combine abilities from a Blizzard game, but there's no denying that a lot of said abilities come from the title that popularized the genre. The idea that Jetpack Cat is an attempt to give Overwatch his own Jeff doesn't make sense considering how Jetpack Cat is a ten-year-old concept and one of three animal heroes in the game. Likewise, the similarities between the Pheonix and the Anrans pretty much end with their end result and use of fire. Anran's mechanics of sucking and detonating enemies are very different from Pheonix's ranged stabbing damage, as Anran is more of a defender than anything else. And while Emma Frost and Domina are similar in nature and appearance, the former is more like Ramattra mechanically due to Diamond Form. However, one new hero — Emre — feels like something out of a different game; only the game is HaloNo Marvel Rivals.
Anran has a basic ability called Dancing Blaze that works like Psylocke's ultimate but feels drastically different because it's a low damage evasion (and healing) tool that gets used a lot.
It's official: Overwatch has defeated Marvel Rivals
Blizzard's original ground-breaking hero shooter returns to its throne as it officially beats out its Marvel-themed competition.
Emre is basically a Halo Spartan in everything but his appearance
Most wanted Overwatch The all-time hero has finally arrived after being teased in official artwork in 2016. And while he's not as flashy as a flying cat or a classy Hardlight wielder, he proves to be a great alternative for newcomers who want to play someone other than Soldier: 76. His story is incredibly interesting already, as he has a close bond with the heart hunter Frey and may be based on Frejabr's bounty. logo that appears on his chest. He's also cursed to carry a god-like AI that increases his power and regularly takes control of him, and this AI companion (seriously, it's basically Cortana with uncontrollability) is the first of many like it Halo's Master Chief.

Emre is not only quick to get up and use his downward aiming ability – a bit later Halo Introduced games under 343 Industries — but its kit is basically built all around Halo device. Each part of his arsenal has a Halo equivalent if one looked at them closely. For example:
- Synthetic Burst Rifle = BR85 Battle Rifle: This three-shot burst rifle instantly brings back memories of one of those Halothe most iconic weapons that have some similarly satisfying sounds when fired alongside the familiar firing pattern. Not to mention the number of 36 shots per mag.
- Cyber Frag = Plasma Grenades: One of Emre's perks Overwatch allows players to turn his grenades sticky, and once they do, the explosives will smell just like those of Halo. With two charges and the ability to quickly discard them before the next shot, the gameplay loop is eerily similar again. Players can even use them to deflect grenades by throwing 'nades to feed them before jumping.
- Siphon Blaster = M6D pistol: Halomagnum is iconic due to its animation, gunfire sound, and design, which Blizzard clearly kept in mind when creating the Siphon Blaster. Sure, it's used for healing instead of crazy damage like the M6D, but the shooting is very similar. Additionally, even though a replacement from BR equivalent to this gun would already have a barrel Halo vibration, Emre is getting fuller, Halo-like jumps when the gun is out just sweetens the deal.
With Emre's Override Protocol Ultimate even resembling Promethean weapons Hello 4it feels like a love letter to the most iconic Xbox franchise of all time. It didn't take long Halo fans flood Overwatch subreddit with credit to Blizzard, as well as skin concepts showing how an official Emre Master Chief skin could turn out. While Emre's story, the fluid animations where his weapons materialize, and his personality all help him stand out a bit instead of being a cheap knockoff, it still feels like a deliberate homage to one of the stalwarts of the FPS genre.
Emre's Halo Vibes are a boon to both Overwatch and Halo fans
WITH Halo: Infinite declining support and another multiplayer experience seems a long way off given the upcoming season Halo: Combat Evolved remake, it's great that players have a new one Halo– as an online experience to try. Although Emre is the only character Halo Fans will eventually root for him, they can still get hours of gameplay out of him, level up, fly through competitive ranks, and save money to buy his eventual skins. WITH Overwatch being free to play doesn't hurt Halo players will try and experience it Halo vibrations first hand. And for OverwatchNot only does the game benefit from having another more straight-forward nature of damage that resembles traditional FPS games, but it has a chance to capture an audience that may not have been interested before the addition of Emre. So while Rivals Community copycat accusations don't really hold up, that's true Overwatch took a lot from another single hero FPS. But with how good Emre turned out, it's a good thing Blizzard used Halo as inspiration for their character design.
