Cool Boarders and Ninja Gaiden 2 In Console Archives have terrible trophy lists

PlayStation's lengthy State of Play exhibition last week had plenty of huge bombshells, but one of the more understated announcements during the event was undoubtedly the Console Archives. For those who missed it, it will be a series that will bring various retro games to modern consoles, debuting with Cool Boarders and Ninja Gaiden 2: The Dark Sword of Chaos.

Of course, coming to modern consoles brings with it a whole host of different upgrades and mods that were previously unavailable when these games were first released, one of which was sweet, sweet trophies. While they're obviously not essential to any game, it can be nice to do something challenging and then hear a nice ping and basically get a digital certificate as proof of your success. Unfortunately, you won't get any of that satisfaction from the Console Archive series.

You won't even get the platinum trophy

The trophy lists for Cool Boarders and Ninja Gaiden 2 first spotted by PushSquare are so desperately awful that you have to wonder why the trophy list was even included in the first place. Both games have a total of four trophies, one of which is earned by playing the game.

As for the other three, you have to play ten minutes on three different days — that's it. If you really wanted to, you could just manipulate the date on the console to make the whole thing even less stressful.

If you're sitting there rubbing your hands right now and thinking, “Hey, that's a pretty easy platinum,” you might want to think again. Not only is it incredibly easy to get trophies, which annoys those who like to get trophies as a challenge, but there is also no platinum trophy, which annoys those who like to collect easy trophies.

Truly a trophy list that will satisfy absolutely no one, and frankly, that's a trophy-worthy achievement in itself.
