The new game on Steam has Serious Legend of Zelda Vibes and great reviews

A newly released 2D action adventure game that borrows the best from The Legend of Zelda's puzzles and game design, it has strong reviews on Steam and Metacritic. In it, players step into the shoes of Nia to fight monsters, complete puzzles, and explore a mysterious world to save their new home. At the heart of this mystery is the legend of what lies beneath the island of Nia, and that's fitting given the game's title: Under the Island.

on Steam, Under the Island earned 96% positive reviews (out of 25 total). It has a “Generally favorable” rating on Metacritic with a critic rating of 85 from 6 reviews. It's a minor release, of course, but it's definitely worth the players' time.

Players can currently pick up Under the Island on Steam with an introductory discount. It is normally priced at $19.99, but until March 3rd, players can get a 15% discount. That brings the price down to $16.99, and while that's only a $3 savings, I mean… in this economy, that's $3. $16.99 is also essentially $15 by player logic – as explained by indie studio Aggro Crab, which made TOP and Another crab treasure.

Why Under the Island is worth your time

Price aside, strong reviews and The Legend of Zelda vibrations, games like Under the Island they have to be able to stand on their own two feet – and they are. Nia arrives at Seashell Island shortly before discovering that the island is destined to sink beneath the ocean. So he teams up with a local girl from Seashell Island (her name is Avocado) to save the island. This includes exploring its colorful areas, of which there are six (including a sentient greenhouse, frozen caves and chaotic sawmills).

Overview of Under the Island features

  • Unravel the sinking mystery

  • Enjoy classic top-down adventure games

  • Explore 6 different areas

  • Fight strange enemies and unlock new loot

  • Meet unforgettable characters

Each biome comes with unique traits, moments and activities. There is typical Zelda recipe to get new power-ups and find new treasures, but players can also “become a cooking race champion, reunite lost castings and avoid the wrath of grain pirates.” Sometimes video games need a little whimsy and Under the Island he has it in spades.

During the exploration, players will face all kinds of stupid enemies, from eggplant to underground wolves. Just like the best Zelda In the games, players will be able to acquire new artifacts, loot and abilities to take on enemies and survive biomes. However, a unique feature is how Nia is able to befriend animals and use their help in her adventure. However, the animals are not the only ones who will help Nia, as the island has several villagers who can give side quests, develop friends and help the player in return.

Overall, Under the Island is a colorful game that takes players back to the best of the 90s. It's hard not to look at it and see exactly how colorful and fun it is. Of course, Under the Island is an independent game and is not going to be dethroned Zelda in its own game, but for those who want such a game Zelda play is hard to beat Under the Island.

In just 24 hours, she made a strong impression on her players. It will be interesting to see how impressions of this game spread in the coming days and weeks, and hopefully the developers of Slime King Games can expand the Island even more. Zelda the games sure liked exploring the sky too, that's all I'm saying.
