I'll get this out of the way right away: I have a huge bias towards Borderlands 4 manufacturer Jakobs. Ever since the original game released in 2009, I've been preoccupied with the idea of only needing one shot to take out every enemy that crosses my path. Whether it was the ricochet bullets in later games or just the flashy, western-looking designs of earlier titles, most of my arsenal in any given Border the game tends to be full of corporate weapons. So, naturally, when it comes to Pearlescent, I most want to see a return inside Borderlands 4unsurprisingly, it's Bekah.
I'm well aware that there have been plenty of stellar (and not so stellar) Pearlescents over the years, so it's not like Bekah is the only weapon I'd like to see get a new coat of paint. For example, the Avenger SMG is an awesome Tediore weapon due to its unique ability to regenerate ammo and the weapon acting as a jumping betty once thrown. The Butcher is a shotgun powerhouse, and when the base versions could be obtained, it was an incredibly flexible weapon that was easy to build. Still, even without elemental damage, Bekah stole my heart, and here's why I think Borderlands 4 The Pearlescent lineup won't feel quite right without it.
Beka is named after Jákob's mother, born The Book of GenesisRebekah, serving as a fun game Border manufacturer name.

Why Borderlands 2's Bekah was so special
For players like me who try to hit as many headshots as possible in FPS games, be it PvE Cod Zombies or PvP like OverwatchBekah is as satisfying as it gets. This cool weapon fires two projectiles every time players pull the trigger. The first works like a normal shot, flying quickly towards the enemy and immediately connecting. However, the second shot hovers briefly behind the first shot. It then splits into three shots that hit wherever the first shot landed. With this semi-automatic assault rifle, players essentially get four bullets for the price of one, and since it fires as fast as players can pull the trigger, its DPS performance is absolutely incredible.

Since the weapon's only drawback – its high recoil – can be negated by rolling the Dahl stock or accuracy prefix, it is possible to get a version of the Bekah without a single drawback. Not only is it a threat in its own right, but the Axton build can take it to new heights. And if that wasn't enough, Borderlands 2 booster shields like the highly sought-after Bee will boost three additional shots as if they were the originals. This makes the weapon even more deadly, as if it even needs an extra boost. To top it all off, it just looks great; the purplish pink look of the weapon gives it a distinct vibe that helps it stand out from most other weapons, only it actually resembles the Maggie, another Jakobs weapon that I like (shocking, I know).
Borderlands 3 brought Bekah back once before, so there's definitely hope
Whereas Bekah is so good Borderlands 2 and my love for Jakobs would be reason enough to make her most desirable Borderlands 4 Pearl, there's also the fact that the weapon has returned Borderlands 3something that would be totally weird if it never appeared in Borderlands 4. Yes, the weapon has since been downgraded to legendary Borderlands 3 it didn't have Pearlescents but it had the same 4 in 1 bullet effect and after some buffs it was a very powerful weapon. It was unfortunately a pain to get; players had to complete all Hammerlock hunts to obtain Bekah, meaning it could only be obtained once per character. Considering how Borderlands 3 kept increasing her level cap, this meant that Bekah would quickly become obsolete, forcing players to reach a new max level and go through all the Hammerlock hunts in the next playthrough to get a usable version.
Borderlands 4's Pearl Rarity Will Be The New Holy Grail (But Expectations Are High)
The stakes are high for Borderlands 4's Pearlescent rarity update, as expectations are high due to a severe content drought.
Borderlands 4's approach to Pearlescents remains a mystery
While Borderlands 4 hopefully he'll have a less tedious way to get Bekah if the weapon does indeed return, right now we have no idea how the Pearlescents will actually work in the latest Border game. There may be unique enemies that you can farm from, or they may be exclusive to loot Borderlands 4raid bosses. Takedown exclusives are another possibility, although it seems unlikely that this will be the only distribution method, as the first Takedown is scheduled for Q2, while a more disappointing scenario would be adding a handful of Pearlescents to the existing loot pool, randomly disappearing from anywhere. But with Borderlands 4's shinies already fill the niche of random, extremely rare drops, hopefully Gearbox has something special in mind for the Pearlescent tier.
As for when the Pearlescent gear is coming Borderlands 4it's currently written as a free update for Q1 2026. With Q1 ending on March 31st, it's a matter of weeks before Pearlescents comes to the heist shooter, not months. If Gearbox wants to release them alongside one of their premium releases to give non-DLC players something to look forward to and prepare for a more significant update, they have two options. The first will be on February 26 alongside the second bounty pack, Legend of the Stone Demon. The second opportunity will be with the first major expansion, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, which is expected in late March along with C4SH's new Vault Hunter.
At this point, players can only speculate based on past games. If you follow the old patterns, the following MAY apply Borderlands 4 Pearls:
-
Anywhere between 9-12 Pearlescents can be obtained.
-
They can drop from any source, but are more likely to come via raid bosses, red chests, and high level enemies.
-
Tubbies and Loot Tinks don't exist in it BL4but there are loot versions of various enemies that could be the source of Pearlescents. These enemies were particularly effective at Pearl farming Borderlands 2.
-
Not all Pearlescents can be expected to be as good as Bekah; in Borderlands 2 especially some pearls were worse than the highest Border Legendaries.
Obviously, this is all just speculation, as Gearbox hasn't provided any meaningful details about the Pearlescent weapons other than confirming that they're on the way. But there is a lot going on with Pearlescent weapons, C4SH and the first expansion. Borderlands 4The number of players has dwindled because players feel that there is little to do in the game after clearing the open world, so hopefully the Pearlescent grind will satisfy them and motivate them to stick with it. BL4 long term. However, as long as Bekah is one of the pearl weapons to grind for, I personally will be very happy to return to her. Borderlands 4.
