FromSoftware has a bright future on the Nintendo Switch 2 if all goes according to plan. Currently, the beloved developer has two major titles awaiting release on Nintendo's latest console: Duskbloods and Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. While no release date is currently known for either game, FromSoftware has confirmed that both Duskbloods and Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition are on track for release in 2026.
The real unknown, though, is which of the two FromSoftware titles will hit the Switch 2 first. From Elden Ring is already available on Steam, PlayStation and Xbox consoles from 2022, it would be natural to assume that Elden Ring will be the first to come to the Switch 2. After that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition was delayed Duskbloods has a chance to be the first of these upcoming FromSoftware titles to hit the Switch 2, and that wouldn't be the worst outcome in this situation.
What to expect from Elden Ring Developer FromSoftware in 2026
FromSoftware, the studio behind Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and more, has had a busy year ahead, releasing at least one major project and likely more.
The Duskbloods could be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 before Elden Ring
Duskbloods was officially revealed as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive in April 2025 during the Switch 2 Nintendo Direct. Alongside this revelation was the announcement that Elden Ring would also get a Switch 2 release in the form A tarnished edition. Originally, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition was scheduled for release in 2025, p Duskbloods scheduled for 2026. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition it was pushed back from the 2025 release window in October.

WITH Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition pushed out of the 2025 release window, the door is open Duskbloods skip it as another FromSoftware game coming to Switch 2. Exclusively for Switch 2, Duskbloods offers Nintendo fans a unique opportunity to experience PvPvE combat through online multiplayer. While it may not be the definitive FromSoftware experience for first-time Switch owners, the pairing Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition should give Nintendo fans the best of both worlds.
Dark Souls remastered is already available on Nintendo Switch and playable on Switch 2 for Nintendo fans who want to experience FromSoftware's game early Duskbloods and Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition release.
Duskblood's release date may have been leaked
Waiting for Duskbloods according to a recent leak, the release date may be near the end. Listing for Duskbloods it was first spotted on the Australian Nintendo eShop, and Finnish website Konsolinet had the game listed as a March 27 release before quickly changing it back to the default December 31 placeholder. While it's possible these listings are just a coincidence or a retail error, rumors of a new Nintendo Direct at the end of February could bring news of an early release for Duskbloods and even potential updates Elden Ring: Tarnished Editionissue date.
Duskbloods is something completely different for FromSoft, but retains the most iconic Soulslike feature (Non-combat!)
Although The Duskbloods is different from its predecessors, it retains at least one mainstay of FromSoftware – and it's not what you think.
Elden Ring doesn't need to rush to Switch 2
It may seem strange Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition release after Duskbloodsespecially since it was originally planned to launch in 2025. But a longer delay may actually be for the best, as hands-on impressions from players who had a test Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on the Switch 2 reported that it was experiencing severe performance issues on the console. These performance issues were probably the reason for the delay and they had more time to fix them, especially with Duskbloods as an option to calm the player down in the meantime.
Even on other consoles, Elden Ring has notorious performance issues
Elden RingThe Switch 2's performance issues aren't all that surprising in hindsight. The game infamously struggled to run on even the most powerful PCs at launch, and was unable to hit 60fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X at release. These performance issues also led Elden Ring debuting to mixed reviews on Steam, despite generally rave reviews elsewhere. While Elden Ring has largely fixed these issues on other platforms, it's understandable that FromSoftware would want to launch the game in the best possible state on the Nintendo Switch 2 to avoid a repeat of the initial launch issues.
Duskbloods could keep software fans busy until the Elden Ring Switch 2 port is ready
If Duskbloods it really comes out on March 27th, it has a chance to be tentative Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. Like a brand new IP Duskbloods will be a test for FromSoftware and its soul-like audience on the Nintendo Switch 2 that could inform how Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition's release is approaching. In the event that Duskbloods won't capture the same number of players as FromSoftware's more traditional soulslike titles Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will still be in the developer's back pocket as they work to optimize the Switch 2's performance.
On the other hand, if Duskbloods becomes the next hit exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, then gives FromSoftware room to breathe Elden Ring: Tarnished Editionwhich gives the developer more time to refine the port. On the contrary, if Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is rushed to release first and its power tanks the Switch 2, then it could affect the expectations of the players Duskbloods and leaving an untested IP stuck between a rock and a hard place. From Duskbloods exclusive to the Switch 2, it's likely being developed with the console's hardware limitations in mind, giving it a better chance to shine on the platform and make a good first impression on FromSoftware's Switch 2 lineup if it's released sooner. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition.
