How to get Magikarp in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen

The two fastest ways to get Magikarp in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen:

  • Magikarp vendor: The NPC in Pokemon Center Route 4 sells Magikarp for ¥500. This Pokémon Center is located right next to the entrance to Mt. Moon.
  • Old Rod: You can get Old Rod in Vermillion City by talking to the Fisherman in the house right next to the Pokémon Center. Use the Old Rod on any body of water in the game and you'll instantly find a Magikarp.
