Xbox Game Pass could soon receive a wave of new games that could increase its value to users of the subscription service. Xbox Game Pass is one of the most popular subscription plans available in the gaming world today, as it offers a huge library of games that can keep players occupied for hundreds of hours or more for a single monthly fee.
However, the past few months have been rocky for Xbox Game Pass. In October 2025, Microsoft unveiled a brand new three-tier structure for Xbox Game Pass, which also increased prices. Although the company added features that justified the increase, many in the gaming community felt that the new cost didn't make sense and that buying the games outright was a better option. After the announcement, many gamers even canceled their subscriptions and some wondered if Microsoft would react to the situation. But now it seems that Microsoft is ready to address these concerns by improving the value of the service with new games.
Microsoft is reportedly set to “expand” Xbox Game Pass in a big way
Xbox Game Pass could see major expansions in the future, with Microsoft considering more mergers and bundles.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate could soon get new premium titles
In the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast, respected insider Jez Corden discussed the value of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and then referenced a report from The Verge's Tom Warren that suggested Microsoft is looking to add more value to the subscription service. Corden noted that while he isn't sure if that will ever happen or not, he has heard from his own sources that Microsoft is exploring the possibility of bundling subscription-based titles such as world of warcraft, and some other services like Fallout 1, Minecraft Realmsand other titles to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. If extras were ever added, the service would make sense, he said.

The main highlight here is the rumored addition World of Warcraft. Blizzard Entertainment's $14.99/month MMORPG was released back in 2004. The game allows players to witness the fantasy world of Azeroth, create their own characters, explore and search. Blizzard is actively updating World of Warcraft since its release with new expansions that have helped it maintain a steady player base. If the game does eventually make it to the service, it will allow it to reach a new audience of gamers, especially considering that Xbox Game Pass has over 35 million subscribers.
Some members of the community doubt that Microsoft would add these games based on subscription services and other benefits simply because it will reduce the individual revenue of these games if the prices are not increased. However, Microsoft's latest price hike for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has certainly frustrated the community. With many gamers feeling that the service no longer offers the value it once did, especially its top tiers, any further price hikes from Microsoft will undoubtedly push away subscribers at a time when Xbox leadership is already going through a turbulent period.
On the other hand, adding more games and subscription services could be a definite way to attract more players to Xbox Game Pass. If it ends up going in Microsoft's favor, there's always the chance that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate could get more subscription content from other games. However, it's always important to take these rumors with a grain of salt, as Microsoft can always change its plans or may never release the games to the service. Regardless, it's great to see that Microsoft is aware of player revenue around Xbox Game Pass and plans to improve the service to some extent. Gamers are hoping for the day when the subscription service once again becomes a great option in the gaming industry at a good price.
