Nidhogg grants lightning manipulation as a special power
As with all Devil Fruits that belong to the Mythical class, the Nidhogg grants the user a special power, and that power is the manipulation of lightning. Whenever Loki takes the form of Nidhogg and flies through the sky, lightning starts to flow and the clouds start to rumble. This shows immense control over lightning on a scale that rivals even Goro of Goro no Mi.

Loki can also put his lightning powers into his weapon like Ragnir and bring lightning down from the sky. He can create fires using lightning. Basically, with the power of the Nidhogg Devil Fruit, Loki is able to control both fire and lightning at the same time, which happen to be Elbaf's two biggest weaknesses. When Loki killed King Harald, he used this lightning once more by pouring it into his hammer.
