Marvel Rivals clarified his plans for the next few seasons, with MCU-themed events and special modes planned for the rest of 2026. Along with that plan was another confirmation of Season 7's heroes, which were Black Cat and… White Fox? While I'm very familiar with Marvel's equivalent of Catwoman and one of Spider-Man's favorite love interests, White Fox is the first Marvel Rivals addition to the stump me. It's not like she was the first niche hero the game introduced to a wider audience, but as someone who owns over 100 Marvel Omnibuses, she was the first to leave me scratching my head.
I saw Elsa Bloodstone a few times before her debut in Season 6, whether it was in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3brilliant Werewolf at night MCU special, or Kelly Thompson's underrated Deadpool run. And I knew about Marvel Rivals” Angela for an interesting behind-the-scenes trip that saw her jump from Image comics to The House of Ideas. But White Fox is a character I'd never heard of before I first teased her Marvel Rivalsand I imagine the same is true for many other superhero fans. However, I'm not against the introduction of super specialized characters because it gives NetEase room to do something that's more unique. Plus, it's a chance for me to learn about a new character that's part of a universe I'm deeply attached to.
Role for Marvel RivalsThe other two heroes remain a mystery, but many assume that Black Cat will be a Duelist, which suits the master thief's agility and cunning.
Marvel Rivals' Dead by Daylight-like Mode is just the tip of the iceberg
Marvel Rivals just revealed an asymmetrical multiplayer mode centered around Loki, but there's even more exciting content on the way.
Who exactly is Marvel's White Fox?
For anyone out of the loop on White Fox like myself, a breakdown of who she is and what she can do will definitely pay off ahead of her imminent arrival. Marvel Rivals reveal. A big factor in her obscurity may be the fact that she only has a little over a decade of comic book history, unlike many heroes who have been around since before the turn of the century. White Fox debuted in a Disney Korea webtoon before proving popular enough for a comic book debut in October 2014 via Korean Avengers running the so-called Electric rain. Since then, she has made numerous appearances in the Marvel Universe, each time putting her super-spy skills to the test.

White Fox's real name is Ami Han, and she is Kumiho, which comes from the legends of nine-tailed fox shapeshifters who can transform into a beautiful woman. Unlike the Korean legend, Ami is a human who can transform into an ethereal fox (think something like a kitsune controlled Overwatchis Kiriko, only bigger and more intimidating). When he fully transforms, he can use his claws to attack his enemies, but he also has a partial transformation where he gains a glowing tail but retains most of his human form. Her Kumi DNA gives her access to the usual superhuman strength, speed, durability, and agility, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. The White Fox can also communicate with animals, absorb life energy, and hypnotize its enemies.
Aside from his espionage work, White Fox regularly teams up with The Avengers, as well as being a proper superhero in addition to being a government agent. Her heroism is an interesting trait considering that Kumihos are hated due to true legends of them seducing men and eating their hearts. Despite being scorned and persecuted by her kind—the White Fox lost her bonds with other Kumihos when her mother was killed, leaving her feeling isolated from the very people she protects—she does everything to protect others. The interesting source of her powers should make for a lot of fun pre-match conversations, and White Fox's ability to communicate with animals could allow her to be one of the few heroes who can communicate with Groot. She's also likely to be caught off guard when others speak to Rocket, as she'll probably assume she's the only one who understands him at first.
What could White Fox's Marvel Rivals set look like?
Trained by her mother to use her Kumi form while also being a skilled hand-to-hand combatant thanks to her time as a spy and Avenger, there's obviously a reason why White Fox becomes a Duelist. But because Black Cat will likely fill that role, and because dual-duelist Seasons are very unpopular among teams. Marvel Rivals community, it makes the most sense for her to be a strategist. While her fox could theoretically make her a Vanguard, her base form will probably be too “normal” to fit the current build. There's also already a transformation-based Vanguard in Hulk form, so a shapeshifting healer would be more unique.
If White Fox really turns out to be a strategist like I think she will, this could be a potential set for her:
- Primary attack: A claw-based melee combo that absorbs energy from the target. Like OverwatchBrigitte, the damage-dealing White Fox can heal herself and her loved ones. With more energy absorbed, she could move and attack faster.
- Secondary attack: A flash of healing that redistributes energy to all nearby teammates and provides a larger amount of healing depending on how much energy White Fox has absorbed from enemies. However, this would be a kind of risk-reward, as she would weaken herself by ridding her team of absorbed energy.
- Team Ability (Emma Frost): Am I biased because I kept Emma Frost months before Rogue was released? Maybe. But also Emma's ultimate already skips hypnosis, so to smoothly accommodate this version of the White Fox's power, maybe she could control a mini version of Emma's ultimate on occasion. It could be a single target and require a precise shot to land like a Mantis sleep.
- Movement/additional healing ability: A small fox transformation that allows the White Fox to transform into Kumi and speed up the battlefield. It can damage any enemy it passes through and heal any ally it passes through.
- The ultimate ability: Kumi's full transformation, turning the White Fox into a larger animal that can be instantly distinguished by her movement abilities. She could be allowed to dash as she pleases, deal much more damage with her claws, and heal/speed up anyone following her (yeahhhh, I know it's another healing circle Ultimate, but at least this one moves and grants aggression). Additionally, any enemy she hits with her claws can take blood damage or be healed.
Obviously, this is just one potential build for the upcoming season Marvel Rivals hero and NetEase could have always had something else in mind with his character design. After learning about White Fox, I'm really excited to see her in action. Seeing her turn into a giant fox should be super cool, standing out from the Hulk transformation that everyone has seen time and time again. With White Fox having less comic looks due to his recent debut, NetEase can really go crazy with his cosmetics as well, an opportunity he's sure to take advantage of. And while there are plenty of familiar names that players may have preferred to see first — Captain Marvel, Ghost Rider, and Thanos to name a few — White Fox has plenty of potential when it comes to lesser-known additions.
