Gearbox Software has revealed a new look for Luck of the Kairish for Borderlands 4 players, but the community will need to complete a challenge before they can be obtained. Despite a “softer than expected launch”. Borderlands 4 and a period of frustration from the community, the game seems to be moving in a positive direction again. Gearbox is fresh off the release of the second Bounty Pack, and it's only a few weeks away from the highly anticipated Story Pack.
After teasing the Story Pack in February, Gearbox has fully revealed the upcoming content in a new DevCast event. Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned launch for Borderlands 4 March 26, and as expected, will feature the biggest addition of content the game has seen since its launch in 2025. Aside from the new C4SH vault hunter, the expansion's content will lean into the horror genre, set on the shattered remains of the moon Elpis. Legacy characters like Ellie, Pickle, Crazy Earl, and Mancubus Bloodtooth return, and creative director Josh Jeffcoat has teased players with even more to discover. In the meantime, Gearbox continues to give away free goodies to its community.

There is a new batch of SHiFT codes for Borderlands 4 players to redeem in-game to get level loot and new appearances for vault hunters.
Borderlands 4 Luck of the Kairish Challenge details
Meanwhile, Gearbox keeps on giving Borderlands 4 players free cosmetics through the SHiFT system. Similar to the past Borderlands 4 Community Challenges like the previous one released on Valentine's Day, Gearbox gives players a chance to unlock the Luck of the Kairish skin for vault hunters. The looks are clearly inspired by St. Patrick's Day, as the outfit mainly features green and gold colors, shamrock icons, and based on the image, Vex, Amon, and Harlowe have become redheads. It's not known at this point if the upcoming C4SH will also get the “Luck of the Kairish” skin, so it seems like it's only for the original 4 for now.
However, Gearbox is not giving away the skin for free. In order to fully unlock the skin, players will need to bulk loot 1.5 million legendary weapons and items between March 12th and Sunday, March 15th. Once the challenge is successful, players can head over to Gearbox's SHiFT website and redeem a code that will send the outfit to a linked account. The challenge can be completed on all platforms where Borderlands 4 is available such as PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It is not known how long the code will be active, but most Borderlands 4 cosmetic SHiFT codes are set for 2030, so it is highly likely that the same will be set for Luck of the Kairish.

Borderlands 4 has evolved in many ways since its launch in September 2025. Outside of the holiday content, fans were treated to the release of two Bounty Packs and a free update that brought the first invincible boss named Bloomreaper. Just recently, the Pearlescent rarity was also added to the game, giving fans a new level of loot to hunt in the game. Thanks and Borderlands 4 Scheduled for 2026, fans have a good idea of when even more new content should arrive later this year.

So far, Gearbox has confirmed 3 more Bounty Packs, another Invincible Boss, as well as a second story pack, but release details and information remain scarce. However, after launching the Legend of the Stone Demon Bounty Pack, Borderlands 4 saw a bit of controversy from players who were upset that the studio made the Pearlescent Torgue Pistol a guaranteed drop for completing the Ordonite CPU activity. Since Pearlescent weapons are supposed to be the ultimate chase for players, many expressed their disappointment that Gearbox was giving one away, feeling as if it devalued the rarity and removed the problem of discovering them.
