The story of Baki Hanma was created by Keisuke Itagaki and is one of the most famous martial arts manga and anime in the world. The story follows an up-and-coming youngster named Baki and his journey to the top of the martial arts community from a pre-pubescent child to his budding adulthood. Kaiou Ryu was highly regarded by some of the strongest fighters in the show, including Kaiou Retsu and Sea Emperor Kaku. Shunsei Kaku is a second generation martial arts prodigy who has been training since birth to become the deadliest and most technical fighter and one day surpass his father. He first appeared during the tournament arc where both Yujiro and Baki competed alongside Biscuit Oliva.

While Shunseiu is a physical prodigy, he had the misfortune of having his first match against Baki with Hanma blood, fresh from a full body recovery. Shunsei quickly charged into battle and was knocked down in the blink of an eye, only to wake up on the ground in front of his father who shared his immense disappointment. Shunsei had undoubtedly accomplished a lot in his youth, but against the supernatural stature of the Hanman family, even his father almost lost his life when he stood up to an ogre.

Mahamad Ali Sr. closely based on world boxing champion Mahamad Ali, he has improved dramatically as a former boxer who is considered one of the strongest in the world, even by the ogre Yujiro Hanma. Unfortunately, due to health reasons, Champ left and never returned to the ring.

Ali Sr. appeared after Ali Jr lost his fight with Baki Hanma. Nearly dying, Ali Sr. used the last fire in his belly to intervene and save his son's life. He later taught his son a great lesson about fighting in life and death situations and another defeat.

Guevara made it clear how much stronger he was than most of the prisoners and was the only true opponent to defeat Oliva and claim his title as Unchained. When the two met in the middle of the prison, Guevara proved to be quite the opponent, but he was no match for Oliva's immense raw power.
