Nintendo Switch 2 is getting compatibility updates for 10 more Switch games

Nintendo has officially released new compatibility patches for 10 Nintendo Switch games Nintendo Switch 2along with some minor fixes for a few other games. Nintendo's latest home console has already seen huge success as the follow-up to one of the company's most popular consoles of all time, quickly becoming Nintendo's fastest-selling console. Some of Nintendo's most popular franchises have already made their way to the Switch 2 with new ones Mario Kart, Donkey Kongand Pokemon games, among others. Nintendo has also made a significant effort to support older games on the new hardware.

Since the launch of the Switch 2, Nintendo has released several patches aimed at making the original Switch games work better on the console. The developer released a bunch of compatibility updates for various Nintendo Switch games, with some games from older hardware having issues on the Switch 2. The console also recently got a big upgrade for fans who want to play their older games on the console, adding a new feature that allows the Switch 2's handheld mode to run original Switch games in docked mode. Now even more games are getting useful compatibility fixes.

Nintendo recently released new compatibility updates for 10 Switch games, with some popular franchises in the mix. The selection of 10 games that received updates included one first-party Nintendo game with Kirby's return to Dream Land Deluxe fixed on Switch 2 as part of update. The list also included some major third-party titles on the platform, pushing for compatibility fixes for games from the likes of Square-Enix. Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age and id Software Doom (2016). Several indie games received compatibility boosts, including A hat in time and Limbo on the list of games that have received compatibility fixes.

In addition to the compatibility fixes, Nintendo has also addressed some lingering issues with other Switch games being played on the Switch 2. The developer has identified five games that currently have “gameplay issues” on the Switch 2, with the most notable of the bunch being Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed. Nintendo also listed two Switch 1 games that currently have indie platformer issues on the new console Pizza Tower graphics problems and Laysara: Summit Kingdom touch screen problems. The games listed will likely be included in the next round of compatibility fixes for the Switch 2.

Nintendo's ongoing efforts to bring more Switch games to the Switch 2 have gone beyond simple compatibility fixes. Games like Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Animal Crossing: New Horizonsand even third party games like Stardew Valley all received upgrades for new Nintendo hardware. While the Switch 2 has already had a successful first year, the console has more releases on the way. The console already has several high-profile exclusives confirmed Yoshi and the mysterious book starting in May and Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave will be released sometime in 2026. Game Freak also recently revealed some big news about one of the most exciting games coming to the Switch 2, revealing that Pokemon winds and waves will launch on the console at an unspecified date in 2027. Nintendo fans should have a lot to look forward to from Nintendo's latest console as it nears its first anniversary.
