How to make your choices come to life is special: Double exposure

Life is Strange: Double Exposure follows Max, the protagonist from the first game in the series, 10 years after we last saw her. Once again, she's caught up in a mystery where she has to find out who murdered her friend Safi (and why), and she's got some interesting new powers to do it.

The story itself is not directly tied to the first one Life is strangebut many fans on Day 1 wondered if Chloe would be present in the new season. While Double exposure primarily focuses on Max's new life at Caledon University, there is a way to carry over the choices you made in the first game to have an impact on the game's overall story. Double exposure.

How to transfer progress to double exposure

Although you can't save save to Life is Strange: Double Exposure from the original game, you can make some decisions when talking to Safi to see how Max reacts to his history and who you can see updates from throughout the game. After you explore the abandoned bowling alley with Safi, she will ask you about the “blue haired girl” whose photo she found in your wallet. Here you can make a few dialog choices that explain how you made your first choice Life is strange it's over

First, Safi will ask who is in the photo and you can answer:

  • “We Were Just Friends”
  • “We Were High School Students”

While in the first game there was nothing overtly romantic between Chloe and Max (besides the kiss, of course, but that was still a choice you had to make), this choice is more based on what you think their relationship was like. If you haven't played the first one Life is strangethen it's all about the story you'd like to create for Max. The answer you give here informs the options you have in the next question Safi asks, which is simply what happened to Chloe?

  • “she died”
  • “We broke up” https://gamerant.com/”We broke up”

If you previously chose the high school sweethearts answer, you'll be able to explain that you and Chloe broke up, but if you choose that you were just friends, you'll have the option to “grow apart”. Here you can transfer if you sacrificed Arcadia Bay in the first one Life is strange.

How your decisions will change the story

Depending on the choices you made when talking to Safi, you'll either get updates and messages from Chloe when you check your phone, or you'll get updates from people in Arcadia Bay like Joyce and Victoria. If you choose to save Chloe, you can also find her letter in Max's room and a happier photo than the one you would have picked up if you sacrificed her in the first Life is strange.

The bad news for Pricefield fans is that there is no way around it. Chloe remains special to Max no matter what you choose, but Deck Deck decided to cut her out of Max's life in this sequel, no matter what choice you made in the original game.

At the very least, if you go the high school sweetheart route, Max explains how they were in a serious relationship for many years before they decided to call it quits. Their romantic history and their history as people who have known and cared for each other for a long time remains an important part of Max's story. Life is Strange: Double Exposure, and one can take some comfort from that.
