The Senku space program is approaching Phase 2

With the spring 2026 anime season underway, viewers are excited to see how the returning anime titles like Dr. Stone will restore their momentum. At the end of the second course of Season 4, a strange peace ended the war between the kingdoms of Senku and Dr. Xeno and now almost everyone is freed from the stone again. This is a time of rebuilding and aiming ever higher, and Senko and Dr. Xeno play this game in sandbox mode.

At first it seemed that Senku Ishigami had finally entered the peaceful world he needed to progress his projects without any more unnecessary violence, but that's only half the truth as the last episode showed. In “Future Engine”, the mysterious Why-Man did not physically threaten the Kingdom of Science, but sent a chilling new message, or rather a dire warning. “DO YOU WANT TO DIE?” now rattles everyone's heads and casts a dark shadow over Senko and Dr.'s joint project. Xeno to rebuild NASA. However, nothing can sustain the spirit of science for long and there is still a wide world to explore with the next episode of “FIRE”.

Senko is no stranger to delegating tasks in his ever-expanding kingdom of science. He knows that as smart as he is, he can't do everything by himself, least of all manual labor. Senku was happy to use the power of friendship many times Dr. Stone to speed up his projects and give people jobs, and Science Future Arc is no exception. For both science and battle, Senku divided his kingdom into squads or task forces, sometimes in case of emergency, and the same is happening here. For more peaceful reasons than the Battle of Corn City, the United Kingdom of Science divides Senka into three main teams. This will help define the “FIRE” episode and beyond as the end game approaches.

Easy (7.5s) Medium (5.0s) Hard (2.5s) Permadeath (2.5s)

Dr. Stone viewers can expect the anime to split its focus between these three teams in the near future, though there's no doubt that Senku's own team will get most of the screen time. Dr. Stone he may have a large cast of heroes, but he still needs Senko to continue leading the pack with his visionary ideas and of course his strong leadership. Most likely, the team of Dr. Xena in Superalloy City and Taiju Oki's team in Corn City play a supporting role with subplots while Senku's global tour on board The new Perseus will move Dr. Stone forward more than anything else.

Research plays an increasingly important role Dr. Stone than ever because the Senku keep getting better. Back in Season 1, Senku was limited to the area around Ishigami Village and had his first in the Treasure Island arc Perseuswhich helped him reach California's Stone Age Coast in Season 3. This time Senka has a shiny one The new Perseusa more technically advanced vessel with a much higher top speed and improved systems all around. Circumnavigating the globe is now almost as easy as it was for ships in the 21st century, so the Senku can explore any land. Based on this image of the globe from the episode “Future Engine”, Senku can and will go anywhere, likely meeting new allies along the way.

The current story arc is relatively quiet, with Senku's few remaining enemies still locked in stone, so there's plenty of room for Dr. Stone constantly adding new specialists to the Kingdom of Science and increasing the fun. Joel, the watchmaker, was a recent addition, though he may soon be overshadowed by whoever comes next. Senku still needs experts for the fledgling space program, such as rocket scientists and possibly computer experts, and billions of petrified humans are ripe for revival for this purpose.

With Dr. Tensions remain between Xeno and Why-Man

Endgame Dr. Xena remains a mystery

One of Senko's biggest successes in recent times Dr. Stone story arcs was to successfully defeat his friend turned enemy rival Dr. Xeno. Dr. For a time, Xeno was Senko's uneasy ally in South America, helping Senko while encouraging the villainous Stanley Snider to rescue him in a hail of bullets. Finally, Dr. Xen's alliance with Senku is true and unconditional—or so it seems. Dr. Stone fans won't soon forget Dr. Xen's past exploits or his merciless ways, and this may cause trouble in Superalloy City while Senku is gone.

This anime might go a bit nowhere here, but it's a whole different story in Japan.

A proper betrayal seems unlikely, but there may be other problems with this character. Dr. Xeno has already embraced his role as a “dark science” in the Realm of Science, experimenting with dangerous materials and possibly risking or bending scientific ethics to achieve results. Although Dr. Xeno shares Senku's mission to create a space program, he may go too far in this endeavor and wreak havoc in the Kingdom of Science. That, and there's also the Why-man question.

It is not yet certain who or what the Why-Man is, or why this entity petrified humanity. All of this combined with two terrifying reports of Why-Man creates Dr. Stone fans are curious to see what Dr. Xeno and Senku when they confront Why-Man. The next episode probably won't provide an answer, but viewers could get an idea. Dr. Xeno could have a radically different approach to Why-Man than Senko, perhaps viewing Why-Man as something to be exploited rather than a threat to be neutralized. This too could cause tension to build as the Science Future arc marches on.
