Living The Dream leaks online

We're only four days away from the console's next big Nintendo Switch release, but it appears the game has already leaked online. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, the third entry in the larger Tomodachi series and the first since 2013's Tomodachi Life, isn't due out until April 16th, but it looks like Nintendo Switch emulator games are already playing.

First spotted on Reddit's r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is available online and those with the Ryubing emulator, a branch of the now-discontinued Switch emulator Ryujinx, are playing it.

The ROM is available online for those savvy enough to find it, and others have vouched for its authenticity. Right now, it's unclear how the game managed to leak online four whole days before its release.

There are sellers on ebay offering the game, albeit at an inflated price, so this may be the result of some pre-release copies leaking into the wild and then a ROM dump.

Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream's wouldn't be the same with a profanity filter

Nintendo did not include any profanity filter in Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream.

Nintendo's first-party titles have been leaked online before they were even released

Back in July, a copy of Donkey Kong Bananza managed to be found in the wild days before its scheduled release on the Nintendo Switch 2. In this case, it doesn't look like any spoilers or ROMs have been shared online.

Instead, people with early copies tried to cash in on the pre-release hype by listing their copies on eBay for prices as high as $109.99, although there were no guarantees the game would get there before release.

Then, in October, ahead of the expected release of Pokemon Legends: ZA, the game was cracked and dumped online. This came about three days before the scheduled October release, and as is the case with Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, those savvy and brave enough to find the ROM online were playing the game much earlier than those with legitimate purchases.

It looks like we've run into another similar situation and there are likely to be more in the future.

Nintendo will almost certainly not be happy about this recent development, and if recent history is any indication, anyone who leaked the ROM needs to beware. The company famously came after Yuzu in 2024, claiming that the emulator's presence led to 1 million copies of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom being downloaded before the game's official release.
