Animal Crossing: New Horizons received a new update 3.0.2 and alongside it a special free goodie for players to enjoy. The Animal Crossing: New Horizons the freebie comes in honor of the series' 25th anniversary.
Animal Crossing started in Japan back in 2001, although players outside of Japan only started to encounter the franchise in 2002. Animal Crossing has had a strong fandom and player base since its inception in Japan, although it has taken a bit longer to gain prominence in the west. Its time as a cult classic probably ended with release Animal Crossing: New Horizonswhen for a time it seemed like the whole world was playing the game as players and non-players alike found themselves at home due to COVID restrictions. After the release of Switch 2, Animal Crossing: New Horizons got new changes and now got another update.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 2 Upgrade – Is It Worth It?
Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0's big new update is here alongside the Switch 2 version, but fans may be wondering if it's worth it.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0.2 update released
Animal Crossing: New Horizons players on both the original Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 can now download game update 3.0.2. The game has undergone a number of bug fixes, including issues affecting gameplay mechanics such as crafting and Slumber Islands. Players will no longer have to deal with being stuck in hotel rooms due to the furniture or behavior of their guests, nor will villagers spontaneously appear in odd places in the house. Minor visual bugs have also been fixed, such as dung beetles on snowballs still appearing after the snowball is destroyed, and objects appearing from rocks before the actual impact.
However, there is also at least one bug that players could use to their advantage that has also been fixed. A bug where players could craft multiple items requiring six types of materials without using all the necessary materials has been fixed so players will have to stick to the original DIY recipes. While not many details were provided, other tweaks and fixes were made to “enhance the gameplay experience”.
Players who download the update can get the new item right now; giant decorative leaf based on Animal Crossing logo. If the update doesn't download automatically, players can simply go into the game menu from the Switch and Switch 2 home screen and tell it to look for a new update and install it. Once the update is downloaded, players simply need to access their in-game mailbox to pick up a new item that can be used as a decorative piece outside.

WITH Animal Crossing: New Horizons it's now six years and it will be interesting to see how the game is supported moving forward. Rather than releasing a new one right away Animal Crossing Nintendo surprised fans by releasing new content and major improvements with the 3.0 update after the release of Nintendo Switch 2. Dedicated fans are still deeply invested in New Horizons islands, with many hoping that Nintendo will release DLC or other major updates rather than switching to a new game anytime soon. Like there was nothing new Animal Crossing game in a recent Nintendo leak, this may prove to be the case.
