When the television adaptation of Baldur's Gate 3 was announced earlier this year, the reaction was decidedly mixed. Many fans weren't convinced the game even needed an adaptation, and Larian's publishing boss took to social media to echo those concerns.
Others, however, were more open to the idea. Larian head Swen Vincke and Astarion actor Neil Newbon reacted positively to the news and hoped fans would give the show a chance.
Now Jennifer English is voicing her support for the show as well. Speaking to me on the BAFTA Games Awards red carpet, English said she's a huge fan of Craig Mazin's work and can't wait to see how he handles Baldur's Gate 3.
Jennifer English is excited to see Baldur's Gate 3 show
“I'm so excited about what they have in store,” English told me when asked about the Baldur's Gate 3 show.”[Craig Mazin] he has an incredible record.”
She also expresses her love for his previous work, especially Chernobyl. But that's not the only reason she had confidence in the show: “I know he's a big fan of the game, so I'm sure he'll do it justice.”
Actor Lune in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 also sends her with Sciel
The Lune and Sciel is a popular ship in Clair Obscur and has at least one of the official voice actors on board.
Right now, it's unclear if the original cast will reprise their roles for the show. Newbon threw his hat in the ring for Astarion, but acknowledged that someone else could win the role for the adaptation. So it looks like no casting decisions have been made yet, giving the actors a chance to play their characters in live action.
All we know right now is that it will continue the story from the end of the game. This is probably to confirm that certain decisions have been made, as there are many endings for both the world and the companions themselves.
In any case, Mazin won't start work on the Baldur's Gate 3 show until after The Last of Us is finished. We now know that The Last of Us Season 3 could be the last, despite previous hints that it could be longer, so we don't have to wait too long – just don't expect many updates on the Baldur's Gate front anytime soon.
