Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 Remastered was one of the biggest surprises for Sony at September's State of Play event. In these games, the story follows Raziel, the vampiric lieutenant of the titular Kain. The only recent case of a Legacy of Cain the game available for this current generation of players is from 2014 Nosgoth spin-off, but the free-to-play multiplayer title doesn't capture the same energy as the franchise's single-player stories. If Soul Reaver the remaster manages to get the attention of the newer generation, then there might be a chance for developers Crystal Dynamics to bring Legacy of Cain back from the grave.

Recently, the revival of classic franchises from the late 90s and early 2000s is having a big moment. This could make now the right time for Crystal Dynamic to finally deal with the years Legacy of Cain rumors by making players' wishes come true. The remake and reboot renaissance that's going on can be tiresome if not done right, but there are plenty of beloved franchises that have been given new life through this method and Legacy of Cain it would be another great series to get this treatment.

Whether it's a full-fledged franchise or a single game, sometimes all it takes is a reboot of a series or a fresh coat of paint to gain a new audience. It doesn't have to be a complete fix, like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown or God of War's reboot, but that might be enough to get the ball rolling.
Once Soul Reaver 1 and 2 Remastered it will be conclusive to see if the game attracts players who didn't grow up with Legacy of Cain franchise. Only time will tell, but the upcoming remaster will probably only leave you wanting more Legacy of Cain that much stronger.
