One of the most popular ongoing mystery light novel series is finally getting an anime adaptation after it was first teased nearly a decade ago. While light novels aren't as popular in the West as they are in Japan, hybrids of novel and manga often get full comic or anime adaptations somewhere down the line. In the case of En Mikami and Hagu Koshijima's Biblia Bookstore Case Filesthe live-action film and the subsequent drama series have already helped the work gain more fans, and now even more people around the world will get the chance to immerse themselves in the special story of Shioriko and Daisuke in a whole new way.
Commencement of publication in 2011, Biblia Bookstore Case Files follows Shioriko Shinokawa, a shy girl with a love of books and a talent for solving mysteries. On the other hand, Daisuke Gora grew up not reading books due to a strange phobia that makes him dizzy when he sees text on a page. One day, Daisuke brings the complete, signed works of famous Japanese author Natsume Soseki to Shioriko's bookstore, setting off the pair's unlikely adventures. No matter how difficult a mystery may seem, they always end up with answers, thanks mainly to Shioriko's mysterious powers of deduction.

Biblia Bookstore's The Case Files is finally getting an anime adaptation after fans have waited ten years
In February 2017, an anime adaptation was announced alongside a live-action film of the series, but fans were met with radio silence after that. This week, the nearly ten-year wait is over, and Kadokawa made the announcement Biblia Bookstore Case Files would finally get an anime series sometime in 2027. The exciting news came with a trailer, along with the main cast and executive crew working on the project. CloverWorks (Spy x Family, My Dress-Up Darling) produces the show with Mamoru Kanbe (Elfen lied, The Promised Land of No Land) set to direct. Character design and main animation direction will be handled by Jun Nakai (Silver spoon, NieR: Automata Ver 1.1a). Shioriko voices Riko Akechi (Makiko, Liar game), while Daisuke voices Shunsuke Takeuchi (Einar, The Vinland Saga).
Past adaptations of En Mikami's works have been incredibly well-received, both in live-action drama and film with major Japanese stars. The drama series that aired on Fuji TV in 2013 starred Ayame Goriki as Shioriko with the actress, singer and model also known for her work in Black Butler a film released in 2014 where she played Count Kiyohara Genpo. Daisuke played Akira, a popular member of the J-pop group Exile. The Biblia bookstore cases the film entered Japanese cinemas in 2017 and starred Haru Kuroki (Ayame Minamikujo, Silver spoon) and Shuhei Nomura (Taichi Mashima, Chihayafuru).
Manga adaptation Biblia Bookstore Case Files ran from 2012 to 2014, serialized in Altima Ace magazine and compiled into six volumes. Two more adaptations followed, the second appearing in Good! Afternoon Magazine and the third on the Young Ace site starting in 2024. This is ongoing and although it has not yet been translated into English, the potential popularity of the upcoming anime series may change that fact.
