One of the things you’ll want to make sure you’re doing regularly when you check on your island full of Miis in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is swing by the grocery store and pick up a handful of meals, snacks, and beverages for them to sample throughout the day.
There are more than 460 foods in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, but it’ll take you quite some time to unlock it all, since you’ll only be able to purchase a handful of food items each day. Here’s everything you’ll need to know about feeding your Miis their favorite food!
We’ll be updating this as we keep working to unlock every food in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream!
Buy Food And Feed Your Miis Regularly
As part of your daily routine in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, you’ll find that the fastest way to increase Mii happiness around your island and earn the trophies related to doing so is to feed your Miis often. Just be aware that, like most other things in a game with as much user control as this, you’ll find that your Miis have preferences on dishes they love, like, or detest.
Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream – Complete Pet List
Looking for a specific pet? We’ll help you find it.
In this game, foods come in three categories. You’ll find a selection of meals and sides on your first tab, indicated by the icon of a loaf of bread, and this is where you can find everything from succulent main meals to appetizing appetizers to an array of side dishes and plenty of things in between. Next is the desserts and sweets category, where the game sorts cakes, fruits, ice creams, and other treats. Finally is the beverages category, which is the smallest in the game and is home to a selection of drinks both hot and cold.
In total, there are 465 foods in the game, as indicated by the Catalog option in the game’s menu, but it’ll take you some time to find them all, since there are a few restrictions to how and when you can unlock new foods. When you begin the game, you seem to be scheduled to receive foods from your Switch’s local region – folks in the United States are seeing carnival foods, LATAM players are discovering spicier dishes, and so on and so forth. Eventually, though, as you catalog more native foods, you’ll slowly see more international dishes joining your game’s menu as well.
There are a few ways to unlock new foods in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, such as:
- Visiting Fresh Kingdom, the grocery store on your island, every day that you play to see what kinds of new foods they’ll have in stock. They have four Daily Specials to check for new food in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, as well as a small series of staples at the beginning of the game, so stop in often! Buying even one of an item when it’s on a Daily Special grants access to it in your main shopping menu, so be sure you’re stocking up as much as you can on as much as you can.
- Getting lucky and seeing a sale at the Marketplace during one of the three daily markets running from this mobile shop. You can either buy the listed food on sale at a pretty sharp discount, or even luck into pulling a new food from a mystery bag if you have the option to purchase one that day.
- If a Mii happens to have a dream about a food, you’ll get one serving of it when they wake up, unlocking it at Fresh Kingdom from there.
When you buy food in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, you’ll find that there are a few levels of satiety that Miis get when you feed them specific foods, as indicated by the stomach icon on a Mii’s info page. The biggest boosts come from foods that fill their stomach three-quarters of the way, which are things like dense meals of meat and starches, typically. Next is food that fills them up halfway, like smaller meals or desserts, and you’ll also find plenty of smaller things like fruits or veggies that offer one-quarter of their satiety when they eat these items.
Their stomachs empty over time, so stop by your island often to hand out food to your Miis, though they will refuse food if it’s going to fill them up too much.
Miis Have Unique Food Preferences
When you first receive the info card for the Miis on in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, you’ll see that they’ve got a handful of unique eating preferences for everyone on the island. Every Mii will have two favorites, two least favorites, and three liked foods, although you’ll see that the foods they like tend to shift quite often as they discover new dishes they like but don’t quite love.
And just like humans, they’ll be happier when they eat foods they like, which means it’s best to try and find their loved and most-liked foods as early as you can. The best way to do this is to continuously feed your Miis new foods all the time until you find what they like best. The game will mark foods each Mii has eaten with a small red stamp on the image of the food when you go to feed that Mii, so try and find things that aren’t stamped and let your Miis sample this and that.
Finding a Mii’s favorite food will provide a colossal happiness boost, typically enough to grant an entire level when you find it for the first time! On the exact opposite side, feeding them their least-favorite food will incur a massive penalty and drain their happiness meter entirely, costing you any and all progress you’ve made toward their next leveling up.
Though you don’t get the first time boost or penalty more than once, you’ll still reliably earn points toward leveling by feeding Miis their favorite foods in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, though they do get sick of foods after a bit and will refuse to eat anything twice in a row, no matter how much they like it.
One of the many quirks you’re able to give your Miis in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream to help make them consistently feel more individual as they level up are quirks that change their appetite and eating style. While their eating style changes are purely aesthetic, Big Appetite and Small Appetite quirks change how much your Miis eat.
Normal Miis have a 100 percent stomach capacity, but Miis with Big Appetites have a 125 percent capacity and Miis with Small Appetites can only fit 75 percent of a normal Mii’s food in there.
Create Custom Food At The Palette House
Finally, once you’ve unlocked access to the Palette House in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, you’ll be able to make a whole slew of custom items that you design for your Miis. Food is the first thing you unlock at the Palette House, so unlike most other custom designs that need to be unlocked with Warm Fuzzies at the Wishing Fountain, you can begin making custom meals for your Miis as soon as you unlock the facility.
Here, you’ll be able to draw anything you’d like – it doesn’t even have to be edible food in the real world, if you’re feeling your most creative – and then purchase it from the Custom tab at Fresh Kingdom, typically for about $5 per dish, per serving.
Once designed, these custom foods in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream are liable to appear in your mini-games that involve the meals in the game, like the Pixel Quiz or Shadow Quiz, so hopefully you remember what you’ve made!
