PlayStation has added an Astro Bot Cameos section to PS Plus.
-
The section contains all the links to games in Astro Bot that are available on PS Plus.
-
Hopefully the section will grow as new bots are added through Astro's speedrun levels and beyond.
Astro Bot isn't just a fantastic platformer, it also celebrates PlayStation history with its ever-growing list of bots that pull from games many haven't thought about or perhaps heard of in years. If the Astro Bot reminded you of an old game, or you've come across a character whose games you'd like to go back and play for the first time, PlayStation Plus now has a section dedicated to games featuring Astro Bots. Boots.
Spotted by IGN's Kevin Diaz, the aptly named Astro Bot Cameos section features games represented by Bots in the order in which they can be found with characters having their own levels that take precedence. Minor spoilers for the PlayStation Astro Bot mascot levels, but Ape Escape comes first, then God Of War, Uncharted, and so on, as shown in the order of games in the Astro Bot Cameos PS Store section.
Even though this is set to default, when I checked this section myself, the games were in a completely different order. As with all sections on PS Plus, games can be ordered by release date or platform, whichever you prefer.
The section should now be active on your PS5 and you can find its tab at the bottom of the screen under the PS Plus section. It's strange that there isn't one on the PS Store, so people without Plus can buy the games, but it's appreciated because subscribers can explore PlayStation history at no extra cost. Especially older games that are locked to PS Plus Premium, the highest level of the subscription service, if they were released on a platform older than PS4.
PlayStation Plus now has an Astro Bot Cameos section
Astro's main purpose is to celebrate PlayStation history, so go celebrate
Even though I rolled the credits in the game, a quick look at the titles included in the Cameos collection revealed some of the bots I hadn't found yet. I still don't recall saving the Return of Selene Bot, for example, although I was pretty sure it would be there. I also didn't realize that some of the golf stuff in Astro Bot was a reference to Everybody's Golf which is available on PS Plus Extra.
PlayStation seems to have stuck to games you can play through PS Plus for now, with the likes of God Of War Ragnarok missing from the Astro Bot Cameos collection. Helldivers 2 and Rise Of The Ronin aren't there either, although those two were only added to the game last week. Days Gone is also there, which I'm sure John Garvin is excited about.
