The latest trailer for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment at the end that seems to hint at Carnage as a playable character.
Over the past few months, Arc System Works has been steadily revealing more and more of the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls roster, including Peni Parker last month and now the Hulk and Black Panther in yesterday's trailer. These revelations made it clear that Tokon isn't going for the most obvious characters in the Marvel Universe, or at least not putting a unique spin on some of the expected stars.
After yesterday's reveal of the Hulk and Black Panther, there are only six characters left on the roster to be revealed, with half going to Doctor Doom's team and the other as part of Ghost Rider's. We may already have a pretty good idea of who will be revealed next, as the latest trailer had a pretty subtle tease at the end.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls teases its next character, and it's likely to be Carnage
Looks like Venom is sitting for now
As pointed out by Twitter user thevenomsite, the new trailer for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has a short teaser at the end where the roster screen flashes green (almost like an x-ray) and shows lots of messages and scribbles. Notably, Spider-Man's face is crossed out with these scribbles, a good indication that a prominent Spider-Man villain is coming.
While the green coloring has some fans pointing to the Green Goblin (which would be awesome), thevenomsite pointed out that one of the scribbles on the roster screen is a cluster of numbers with the number 361. The Amazing Spider-Man #361 is the first appearance of Carnage, so it seems like a pretty clear nod to the character joining the roster.
Since Carnage is a villain, it's likely we'll see him as part of Doctor Doom's currently unrevealed team.
If Carnage is indeed being teased here, then it will be quite a surprise to see him appear as Tokon's resident symbiote instead of the more obvious choice, Venom. But that's pretty consistent with what Tokon is doing, as evidenced by Peni Parker as Spidey's second hero and Shuri as Black Panther instead of T'Challa.
