A new job listing gives the first details on the next Halo campaign
According to the latest news Halo: Campaign Evolved is far from the only project Halo Studios is currently working on. YouTuber Rebs Gaming has released video reports over the past few weeks that they claim shed light on the inner workings of 343 Industries post-launch Halo Infinite back in 2021. April 27 Rebs Gaming — in a video titled “The Original Plan for the Future of Halo!” — claimed the former Halo Chief Creative Officer Joseph Staten announced via a company-wide Microsoft Teams meeting in 2022 that the studio is starting work on a new Halo campaign. On May 6th, Rebs Gaming posted another video report, this one titled “The 'Halo Next' Campaign Project!” In this 4-minute video, Rebs Gaming shares new leaked details of this original concept Halo Infinite continuation of the campaign and suggests that Halo Studios is currently working on a new one Halo campaign. According to an unnamed Rebs Gaming source, Joseph Staten's original plans to a Halo Infinite the sequel revolved around The Endless, an antagonistic race introduced in Halo Infinite.
Rebs Gaming's latest report then highlights a Microsoft job offer that was published on May 6. This vacancy is for the position of Director of Narrative Design at Halo Studios. The listing is looking for someone “to help define and deliver the narrative experience for Halo Next…including campaign story structure, tone, character arcs, and narrative integration across gameplay.” As Rebs Gaming points out, this listing seems to indicate that Halo Studios is currently working on a new one Halo campaign and its current codename is 'Halo Next.' While this code name is similar to one Joseph Staten allegedly used during internal meetings to refer to his planned Halo Infinite sequel, it's unclear whether some of the leaked story details carried over to this “Halo Next” project after Staten's departure from Microsoft in 2023.
