The Division 2 Update Adds New Missions and a Special Vendor

A new update has been released for Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, applying numerous bug fixes while also providing fresh content, missions, and events, as well as a unique new vendor for endgame players to visit. It’s already been a big year for The Division 2, with the game kicking off by celebrating its 10-year anniversary, but for fans of the series, the best is yet to come.

Alongside The Division‘s 10-year anniversary celebration, Massive Entertainment gave fans a glimpse into the later parts of 2026, teasing more content on the horizon. Fans also got to enjoy a Realism game mode for the Warlords of New York expansion, as well as a visual makeover, which added improved lighting, refined shadows and fog, sharper detailing, and more realistic surfaces. In terms of content, fans still have the Survivors extraction game mode set for later this year, a continued investment in seasonal content, a new incursion, as well as a surprising teaser for what appears to be an expansion of some sort. The short footage appears to hint at a Central Park event where a dead agent’s hand could be seen and footsteps heard in the background, leading many to believe it could be Hunter focused.

The Division 2 Makes Big Change to Prototype Gear Drop Rates

Massive Entertainment announces major drop rate adjustments to Prototype Gear and Event Keys for the Cherry Blossom event in The Division 2.

In the meantime, Massive continues to make improvements to the current season in The Division 2. The latest title update has arrived and with it comes new content for players to dig into, including a new vendor being added to the game. Inside the Base of Operations, players can find the Escalation Requisition Vendor next to the Escalation panel, where they can now trade in tokens for The Division 2‘s highly sought-after Prototype Gear. Added at the start of Season 1, Prototype Gear is the highest-tier loot in the game, dropping with augments and stronger attributes than High-End, Named, and Gear-set pieces.

According to the patch notes, the Escalation Requisition Vendor has three types of caches for purchase. While players can purchase as many caches per day as they canm afford, the one catch is that they’ll need to be level 40.

Prototype Random Cache

  • Purchasing this grants one Prototype item of any type. Better yet, this option is always available.

Prototype Gear Cache

  • The Gear cache is part of a daily rotation, featuring a different equipment type in Prototype rarity. While opening this cache grants one Prototype item of a specific type, items obtained from this have a higher chance of getting a better roll than normal.

Prototype Weapon Cache

  • The final option is the Prototype Weapon Cache, which is also part of a daily rotation that features a different type in Prototype rarity. The cache will grant one Prototype weapon of the currently active type for that day and siomilar to the Gear Cache, has a chance of awarding a weapon with a better roll.

Alongside the vendor, this Title Update is also adding the next Classified Assignment to The Division 2 called The Capitol Anomaly. This mission features a wealth of collectibles at The Capitol Globe newspaper building, while also offering themed backpack trophies and named item drops as well.

Assault and Ambush Global Events will be making their return, with the former being available from May 12-19, and the latter a week later on May 19-26. There’s also a special multiplier event called Vanguard Overdrive starting on May 15-19 which applies a number of bonuses such as 50% boost to reload speed, 20% movement speed, and more. If that wasn’t enough, fans can get a whopping 5x XP for their Season Pass from May 19-26 by completing Priority Objectives, Seasonal Journey missions, Weekly Projects, Manhunt Scouts, and general world activities.

In addition to this update, fans only have a few days left with The Division 2‘s Cherry Blossom limited time event. Back in April, Massive launched this event by placing Cherry Blossom trees and decorations throughout the Washington, D.C. map. In addition to hunting decorations, players could battle unique Kitsunebi and Ronin enemies to earn Event Keys that would unlock special rewards such as the Kintsugi Fox Mask, Winter Tiger Boxer outfit, and more player personalization items. The event itself wraps up for good on May 12.

Escalation Requisition Vendor

This update brings a new vendor to the game: the Escalation Requisition Vendor. Here, you can exchange Escalation Tokens for Prototype Gear rewards. You can find it in the Base of Operations, next to the Escalation panel.

The Escalation Requisition Vendor offers three different types of caches:

Prototype Random Cache

  • This cache is always available for sale.
  • Opening this cache rewards one Prototype item of any type.

Prototype Gear Cache

  • This cache is part of a daily rotation.
  • Every day, it features a different equipment type in Prototype quality.
  • Opening this cache rewards one Prototype item of that specific type.
  • Items obtained from this cache have a higher chance of getting better rolls.

Prototype Weapon Cache

  • This cache is also part of a daily rotation.
  • Every day, it features a different weapon type in Prototype quality.
  • Opening this cache rewards one Prototype weapon of that specific type.
  • Items obtained from this cache have a higher chance of getting better rolls.

Note: There is no limit for how many caches you can buy from the Escalation Requisition Vendor, and this feature is available to Level 40 Agents.

CLASSIFIED ASSIGNMENTS

Starting May 12, a new Classified Assignment, The Capitol Anomaly, will become available.

ISAC has flagged another SHD network anomaly connected to lost Agents, leading you to the headquarters of The Capitol Globe, one of Washington D.C.’s former major newspapers.

If you enjoy digging into spaces, following clues, and discovering things you might normally miss during regular missions, The Capitol Anomaly is worth checking out.

Keep an eye out for collectibles such as ECHOs and audio logs, plus additional rewards including themed backpack trophies and named item drops.

Once available, The Capitol Anomaly will appear on the map for players who have reached Level 30. Access can be unlocked directly from there, and owners of the Season Pass Bundle will already have it included.
