The Alan Wake-inspired action features new mechanics built around Words of Power, Dark Presences, and a multi-level puzzle with a doll hidden in the lobby. Whether you're going for Event Points, hunting for cosmetics, or trying to figure out why there's a whispering shadow man in the corner of the farm again, there's a lot going on during this crossover.

How the Alan Wake event works

Alan Wake takes place across themed versions of your typical pre-existing investigation maps. While the layouts are mostly familiar, each location contains unique event objects, including Words of power, dark presences, dolls, and their corresponding puzzles.

What are dark presences?

Dark presences they are shadow figures can be found on the event maps. They are completely immobile but emit a whisper that makes them easy to track down in quiet areas.

Get rid of the dark presence in Phasmophobia.

To remove them, you must grab the Angel Lamp from the investigation vanfound only in the camera monitor. Once a The Dark Presence is located, hold the Apply button while pointing the lamp directly at the figure. After a few seconds, the light overwhelms the entity, forcing it to disappear in a sparkling explosion of light.

Maps can contain up to 20 Dark Presence spawns in total.

Words of power are hidden phrases it can only detect using UV light. While exploring the map glowing yellow arrows appears nearby when the hidden word is near. Following the arrows eventually leads to ka spiral cluster of glowing letters hidden somewhere nearby.

If you are playing with friends, each player must reveal their own Word of Power, as progress does not transfer between players. Once you reveal it, the word disappears for you, but remains visible to anyone else in the game until they reveal it themselves.

How to solve the doll puzzle
