Glorious wants its GMMK 3 to be your dream gaming keyboard

Keyboards may not seem like they matter too much, but when it comes to gaming, a great keyboard can make all the difference. Having a keyboard that will not only consistently register keystrokes but also provide feedback to the user along with a keyboard that will be comfortable to use during those long gaming sessions is highly desirable. Additionally, gamers may also want a gaming keyboard that matches the aesthetics of their room, and finding the perfect combination of all these features can be daunting. Fortunately, Glorious Gaming has it covered with their fully customizable GMMK 3.

After conducting a survey with gamers about gaming keyboards, Glorious found that more than 85% of gamers appreciate the customization of their keyboards, and more than 50% of them will react and change their keyboards at some point. Now, Glorious has responded with the GMMK 3 keyboard and a generous offering of over 1 billion different hardware configurations that take aesthetics, performance and typing experience into account.

GMMK 3 is more than one billion keyboards in one

Customization is at the heart of GMMK 3, as Glorious aims to give players complete control over every aspect of their keyboard. What is ultimately realized is the size, appearance and functionality of the keyboard, each with varying levels of customization options available in Glorious' Boardsmith keyboard builder. When you use Glorious Boardsmith to create your keyboard, gamers can choose its language, size, connectivity, switch technology, and PCB orientation before moving on to the aesthetics of the top and bottom of the keyboard. From there, they can customize the switches, keys, badge, rotary knob, cable, and typing feel.

It is also possible to choose from a range of pre-made custom GMMK 3 designs and either purchase them outright or use them as a starting point for personalisation.

The custom GMMK 3 is available in three different sizes – 65%, 75% and 100% – unlike many other gaming keyboards that may force players to trade off size options for another desired feature. While some gamers might prefer a more compact keyboard for more desk space, others might prefer a larger, multi-purpose keyboard that can be used for both gaming and work. GMMK 3 keyboards can also be wired or wireless, depending on what users prefer.

The custom GMMK 3 allows players to choose between standard hot-swappable mechanical switches or hall-effect magnetic switches, the former providing a classic mechanical keyboard experience and the latter offering useful gaming features such as quick start-up, customizable controls and a dynamic 4:1 keystroke (allowing up to four actions to be assigned to one key). Even the orientation of the GMMK 3's PCB (Printed Circuit Board) is customizable, giving users the option to position the keyboard's RGB backlight either north or south – meaning they can either shine directly into the key legend for more vivid results, or away from it to keystrokes were less interrupted.

From there, players can customize the material and color of their GMMK 3's top and bottom cases, choosing from limited edition metal colors, standard metal colors, and plastic colors. The color and material of the upper and lower case can also be individually customized, increasing the total number of possible combinations.

Next comes GMMK 3's switch customization, offering players the choice between linear, tactile or clicky MX switches. The MX linear switches are generally quiet and smooth, and the keystrokes are consistent because the keys don't require any extra force to press. Tactile MX switches differ from linear MX switches in that they provide tactile feedback when pressed to inform the user that a keystroke has registered. Clicky MX switches are essentially tactile MX switches with the added audible “click” feedback. In addition, GMMK 3 linear MX switches are available in five different colors, touch in four and click in one.

Users can also select the “No Switches” option if they want to place their own switches on the GMMK 3 later.

Once GMMK 3's functionality is decided, players can customize their keyboard's keys with six color categories to choose from: Limited Edition, Basic, Gradient, Backlight, Polychroma, and Aura. Generally, in the advertisement, GMMK 3 can be seen with a transition look, so users can opt for it. However, the limited edition selection showcases unique patterns rather than solid colors. The keyboard layout can also be customized for Windows or MacOS.

Some other, perhaps minor, customization options include the GMMK 3 badge, which features the Glorious logo and offers over a dozen options for its material and color. The rotary knob – which is used to perform functions such as adjusting the volume and scrolling through customizable keyboard layers – also has plenty of color and material customization options available. The keyboard cable can be standard or coiled, the latter offering several color options. Finally, the writing style on the GMMK 3 is also customizable, with options for an aluminum, polycarbonate, FR4 or brass switch plate, as well as rigid or flexible seal modules.

All in all, the GMMK 3 stands tall as one of the most customizable gaming keyboards ever developed, allowing gamers seemingly unlimited freedom to design the keyboard of their dreams.
