Although it's not as viral as it once was, REPO is still enjoyed by many and its initial rise in popularity cannot be understated. With its goofy bean-shaped characters and built-in potential for hilarious internet clips taking the internet by storm, it's no surprise that indie developers would want to recreate the success of semiwork's scary-yet-silly project. One Steam a title that clearly follows suit REPO is The Last Pirates: Die Togetherbut it is not a direct copy. Sure, its character models are similarly charming, and it seems poised to deliver its share of scares via some monster-chasing players, but it also works extraction elements into its gameplay loop.
The rise of the extraction genre has been interesting to watch, as if its difficulty meant it was inherently niche, which hasn't stopped studios from trying to put their own spin on the concept. Arc Raider was a huge success, and while other games failed to make the same splash, there were still some high-profile attempts. Bungie's Marathon is one such example Call of Duty's Endgame mode as a Halo An extraction shooter is rumored, more games in this style can be expected. For Steam players who enjoy the angst genre, The Last Pirates: Die Together could be even more attractive than a normal friendly game – and those who are interested do not have to try it for long.

Create your own story and line the captain's pockets
The Last Pirates: Die Together puts the player in the shoes of a ship captain's greedy lackeys, with bumbling comrades thrown onto a haunted island to loot everything that isn't nailed to the floor. They will use a grasping tool for their looting just like v REPOthough said instrument is actually just their strangely outstretched arms. Players can use their arms to destroy chunks of the island, tear open doors, and grab furniture that can be carried and dropped onto their escape boat. However, getting hold of this loot will not be an easy task as players will encounter a lot of threats in Silent Cove.

While players will try to loot and escape from the coastal area, just like in a hit extraction game Escape from Tarkovthe biggest threat in The Last Pirates they are not other players but supernatural enemies controlled by AI. Ghost sharks, ghostly apparitions, sea monsters, and more will block progress and haunt the player, forcing the party to strategize every step of the way. Sometimes it can be best to have three players act as a distraction and let one party member get valuable loot. Other times it might be more viable to work on finding ways to stun enemies.
Like REPOthis straightforward gameplay loop is elevated by a humorous aesthetic; characters fall and have their buttocks exposed on full display (with a bit of footage showing another player slapping and slapping their faces), the player models boast goofy faces with big eyes, and the extendable arms look predictably weird. How players extract successfully The Last Piratesthey will be able to collect a wide variety of clothing items for their character, turning them into the goofy pirate of their dreams.
The Last Pirates demo is just one piece of the final puzzle
The Last PiratesThe demo is just around the corner, and while it's fairly complete, it won't have everything included in the full Steam Early Access version. Players will only be able to explore the Silent Cove map and its abandoned estate, with other maps available at a later date. Additionally, not every interactive object planned for the game will be present in the demo build, meaning more can be destroyed, collected, and used later. Still, with the core mechanics present in the demo and four different monsters that respond to sound and movement, it should be a fun experience to convince potential players if this particular game is right for their group of friends.
