Rise Of Hydra didn't miss its release window

People are starting to worry about Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, citing that it has now missed its targeted “early 2026” release. The thing is, people seem to have forgotten that Skydance gave up on this window months ago, and GTA 6's latest delay may be to blame.

Rise Of Hydra and GTA 6 were delayed at the same time

The last official word we got from Marvel Studios 1943 was last November, when they confirmed that Rise of Hydra would not be coming out until early 2026 after all. It's the second time that Amy Hennig's World War 2 superhero game has been delayed, but news that came out almost exactly at the same time meant that many people were still in the dark.

The WW2 Marvel part of the game will take place in a version that is very unfamiliar to Wakanda fans.

Within minutes of Skydance releasing its Rise of Hydra news, Rockstar announced that it would push back the release date of GTA 6 for the second time. It's a delay that pushed the juggernaut's release date from May of this year to the current date of November 19, 2026. No shade was intended for Hennig's team, but this bombshell significantly overshadowed the Marvel 1943 news that surfaced a few minutes earlier.

So much so that six months later, with early 2026 firmly in the review mirror, Marvel fans are pretty worried. “So what happened to it?” one fan posted on Twitter citing an announcement from this time last year when Skydance originally delayed Rise of Hydra to early this year.

Apparently they're not the only ones who missed the semi-annual memo. Almost all of the top replies to this post are either people who share the OP's concerns or those who offer potential reasons for radio silence. Everything from fans theorizing it was canceled to one person claiming the trailers we saw were just Unreal Engine demos and there would never be a game.

Scroll a little further and you'll find those who were paying attention six months ago. While there are reasons to be concerned about the whereabouts of Skydance's upcoming Marvel game, not meeting the early 2026 release window is not one of them. It was confirmed to be a dream before the year even started.

Now, the new release window that Skydance gave at the time, and the radio silence since then, is cause for concern. A statement swallowed by the GTA machine last November simply said that Rise of Hydra would be here “after early 2026,” which could literally mean anything from a drop of shadow later to the end of time.

We also live in an era where while plenty of superhero games get out the door and find success, just as many fall by the wayside before ever seeing the light of day. EA's Black Panther is no longer in development, and neither is Monolith's Wonder Woman. Rise of Hydra currently lives alongside Motive's Iron Man and Arkane's Blade as Marvel games we'd love to see come to market, but I won't believe they're real until I have a controller in my hand and play them, and even then I'll have to pinch myself a few times.
