Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 34 was officially released today, May 20, 2026 at Shuesha's V-jump Issue 7. This new issue of V-Jump brought the latest chapter titled “Used To It” which focused on the aftermath of the war between the Konoha shinobi and Mamushi. Masashi Kishimoto, the manga supervisor, and Mikio Ikemoto, the illustrator and writer, drew a lot of attention to the next generation of ninjas as they eventually emerged from the difficult battle largely unscathed. The vast majority of the attention in this chapter was on Boruto Uzumaki, but another fan favorite, Sarada Uchiha, couldn't be ignored either.
Thanks to Sarada Uchiha, Kishimoto and Ikemoto brought back Sakura Haruno, who is her mother today. We've been waiting 12 years for the return of Sakura Haruno, which goes beyond small panels, and we're delighted that the writers have finally succeeded against all odds. Upon her return, Sakura received a tremendous characterization in this month's chapter, enhancing her overall character as both a Konoha ninja and Sarada Uchiha's mother.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 34 Officially Brings Back Sakura Haruno with Added Shinobi and Mother Character
Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Officially released on March 20, 2026, Chapter 32 saw Sarada take massive damage after using the power of her Mangekyo Sharingan. Immediately after releasing the Ohirume Jutsu to take down Mamushi once and for all, her eye nearly exploded and she passed out. Thanks to Himawari, the surface damage was immediately healed, but she remained unconscious until the recent events that took place in today's Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 34.
In this new chapter, Sakura was seen tending to her own daughter, and it was very clear to her that her daughter's eyesight had deteriorated. Sarada relies heavily on the power of the Mangekyo Sharingan, all for the sake of protecting her loved ones, as this power is ultimately born from love. However, it also comes at a huge cost, and that is possible permanent blindness.
“As I thought, the prescription doesn't seem right. Your eyesight has gotten noticeably worse than before. It's a risk that inevitably follows the Mangekyō Sharingan. The more you use it, the more your eyesight deteriorates… It depends on the nature of the technique and how it's used… but either way; If you use it like this, you'll end up going completely blind.” — Sakura Haruno, Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 34 Sneak Peek
While most fans expected Sakura to stop her daughter from using her power, what Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto did in this chapter surprised us all. Instead of coming down hard on her daughter, Sakura stood by her decision to use this power for those she loved, even if it meant going permanently blind. Sakura is first and foremost a shinobi and we saw her journey in the original Naruto manga for over ten years. He knows the determination it takes to protect his loved ones, which is why he understands what Sarada is doing right now. Instead of acting out of emotion as a parent, Sakura clearly tells Sarada to keep using her power whenever she sees fit because it's a power that comes from her decision to never betray.
“I'm not going to tell you to stop. Because it is something, a power you gave birth to yourself when you decided you needed the power to do and protect what you wanted.” — Sakura Haruno, Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes, Chapter #34
By putting herself in the extremely conflicted position of both parent and Shinobi, Sakura Haruno Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 34 did wonders for her character. Sakura clearly told her daughter to follow in the footsteps of her father Sasuke Uchiha and her uncle Itachi Uchiha. Even if the whole world can turn against her and laugh at her, just like they have for the last three years.
Still, the moment Sakura left to tend to another patient in the chapter, we saw tears streaming down her face. These tears stem from her deep care for her daughter and her well-being, but she still fought back against them because she is emotionally strong and more than poised to realize that Sarada is her own person and has her own choices as a shinobi. As a mother, she feels pain, but as a ninja, she respects her daughter's determination, and this enhances the character of both Sakura and Sarada.
“Just know that Sarada, I will always believe in you and your father no matter what! Besides, I'm used to it! Lectures on my family.” — Sakura Haruno, Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes, Chapter #34

How Ikemoto's New Sakura Moment Improved Her Overall Character Arc in Boruto
Sakura Haruno was barely involved Boruto series except for a few appearances here and there. Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 34 marks her first major moment in the manga and builds her character up nicely. Sakura has always been the target of criticism from fans for many reasons, some of which are rather unfair. IN Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 34, Kishimoto and Ikemoto didn't make a single mistake in perfectly balancing Sakura's side as a caring and loving mother and a shinobi who understands the determination of another shinobi.
This chapter took her entire character arc to a whole new level. Above all, we want this Sakura arc to continue over the next few chapters. Since the new arc has now officially begun, we can only hope that Sakura will continue to develop as a supporting character in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes. That would be absolutely brilliant, especially in the absence of Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki.

Sakura's role in the future of Boruto: The Two Blue Vortexes
Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes it's all about the next generation of ninjas. Expecting Sakura to be on the front lines and involved in major battles is not an expectation that any of us fans should have. However, Sakura may still be developed as a supporting character in this manga moving forward. She has more than enough strength to fight top level enemies and act as support, allowing her own daughter and the next young generation of ninja to rise to the very top.
In the absence of Naruto and Sasuke, Sakura can fill this role perfectly, especially in the upcoming arc where Code has been officially teased to make a move to kidnap Sarada Uchiha in an attempt to lure Boruto out. Sakura, as Sarada's mother, should be the one to lead the mission to save her daughter from the very front. This will not only give her the ability to engage in high-level combat, but also show how deeply she loves her daughter and stand as a powerful parental figure in the new arc.
“Code runs away after deciding he has little chance of winning against you. That's why he's after Sarada. He's taking her to Shinju as a bargaining chip because he knows she can be used as bait to lure you out.” — Kashin Koji explains Sarada's role in the new Boruto Arc in Two Blue Vortex Chapter #34
New arch Boruto: Two Blue Vortexeswhich officially started on May 20, 2026, will likely continue the development of Sakura Haruno's character on the sidelines. Fans shouldn't expect her to take center stage because at the end of the day, her own story is over and this is her daughter's story and her countrymen's story. Still, we're absolutely delighted to see the old Naruto character getting this level of attention in Two Blue Vortex and hope it continues.
The latest chapters of Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto's Boruto: Two Blue Vortex are available to read through Manga Plus and Viz Media.
