World of Warcraft: Hallow's End Complete Guide

Not surprisingly, most holidays in World of Warcraft they are based on real-world holidays. A good example of this would be Hallow's End, which is essentially an Azerothian version of Halloween. Throughout Azeroth, you'll find lanterns, spooky decorations, and plenty of Halloween-themed rewards to earn.

There are even candy buckets in each inn where you can get some candy and gold (along with EXP if you're not at cap level). Hallow's End runs from October 25th to November 8th, so here's what you can expect from the event, including all the rewards you can get.

As mentioned above, every inn throughout Azeroth and beyond will have candy buckets that you can work with to get candy and other fun items. Even if you visited the candy buckets last year, they all reset every time Hallow's End returns. The only area that doesn't have candy buckets is the Shadowlands.

Each starting zone will have a town with several daily quests related to Hallow's End. The Headless Horseman will periodically appear and set buildings on fire. You will need to pick up buckets of water and throw them into the flames. If you and your teammates manage to get the flames out fast enough, you'll be able to fight the Headless Horseman. It won't take more than a few hits to take him out, and then he'll leave his head behind, allowing you to begin your daily quest.

Speaking of the Headless Horseman, he's the seasonal boss for Hallow's End just as Coren Direbrew and Ahune are the bosses for Brewfest and Midsummer. Just like these bosses, you can queue up to fight the Headless Horseman.

Headless Horseman has been updated since 2023. The fight is now a bit more difficult than DPSing the head when it spawns, but the fight is still pretty easy. However, you can make the fight more difficult by using Wicker Man statues. The effects of these statues make combat significantly more difficult, but the debuffs only affect the player who activates them and not the rest of the party.

If you manage to defeat the Headless Horseman with the Wicker Man Statues active, it will increase your chances of getting the Headless Horseman from the loot pumpkin. Excluding pumpkin full loot rewards, the Headless Rider drops the following rings at item level 554 maximum:

  • The Petrified Pumpkin Band
  • Seal of Ghoulish Glee
  • Equestrian ring
  • Signet of the Wicked Witch

Then there's the Loot-Filled Pumpkin, which you can get once per day per character. In addition to the highly sought-after mount that drops from the Loot-Filled Pumpkin, you can also get the Headless Horseman's helmet and sword. You also have a chance to get Sinister Squashling and Hallowed Helm, which are needed for the “Sinister Calling” success.

You will be buying items with Tricky Treats rather than gold. Tricky Treats are obtained from completing daily quests, Loot-Filled Pumpkin, and occasionally from candy buckets throughout Azeroth. So if you want to get the most rewards, you should make sure you visit every Candy Bucket, do all daily quests for the duration of this event, and also kill the Headless Rider at least once a day. You can also get 10 Tricky Treats by completing “Hallow's End Treats for Jasper!” (Alliance) or “Hallow's End Treats for Spoops!” (Horde).

Don't worry if you can't get every reward from Hallow's End before the event ends. All rewards will be available when Hallow's End starts next year, though you'll have to grind Tricky Treats from scratch.
