It's been about a year since the Nintendo Switch 2 made its way into the open arms of the gaming world, and since then we've received countless amazing games that look and feel so good on the refreshed yet familiar piece of hardware. But as is often the case in the gaming world, no matter how many great titles drop, there always seems to be more on the way, and in June alone we'll see some incredible games, both from existing franchises and brand new IPs.

Video game release date calendar 2026
From remakes to new titles, 2026 is shaping up to be a gaming blockbuster.
It feels like yesterday when the original Switch launched, and as an early adopter I've always adored the platform for its dedication to convenience and the lineup of games that has allowed it to stay at the top of the industry for so long. Now, nearly a decade later, we're seeing that success continue, with a series of new releases that tick all the boxes for gamers of all shapes and sizes.

Complete remake Starfox 64
Star Fox returns to Nintendo's lineup this June with a new entry focused on cinematic space combat, branching mission paths, and expansive planetary battles. The franchise has been pretty quiet over the past decade, with the last entry, Zero, appearing on the Wii U, but that doesn't mean dying fans have forgotten about the slick and cunning pilot that once dominated the rail shooter genre.
Along with many others, I was quite surprised by the new visual approach, which looks to bring Fox and the rest of his pals into a much higher fidelity realm, yet there's something about seeing and hearing that voice that still manages to excite me in the face of change. Whether you're pumped for bigger gatherings, denser environments, or just playing Fox over and over again, I can promise that June will bring with it a whole new addiction to bite into.

Both solo and multiplayer for all playstyles
Football/soccer games have existed alongside virtually every console generation, and used to be one of the biggest names in the space DOG. Now rebranded as eFootballplayers will experience the game firsthand on their Switch 2, with enhanced visuals and expanded online features to ensure there are more ways to play for veterans and newcomers alike.

5 Upcoming Open World Games That Sound Too Good To Be True
Meet some of the most ambitious and promising open-world games coming out in the next few years that could become new standards for the genre.
The biggest difference this time comes from the modes. Not only do you have the chance to compete on the international stage with the team you own, but you also have the chance to play against others and even increase the intensity in 6v6 matches, which bring more goals and more opportunities to show off your ball skills. I've always loved playing soccer games with my friends, and now that I can do it on the go with the Switch 2, I'll definitely be picking it up and charting my course to the top.

The Adventures Of Elliot: The Millennium Tales
A brand new RPG adventure

Beautiful HD-2D real-time combat
The RPG space has seen a lot of growth over the past few years, and now we're in for another epic adventure. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales features a modern HD-2D design that replaces turn-based gameplay with real-time combat while still retaining all the charm and feel of a more classic title from the genre's early days.
The title character is front and center, and players will spend a lot of time in his shoes, as opposed to having multiple protagonists alternate between them on the fly. I've gotten more invested in this world of HD-2D gaming over the last few years and I'm really excited for something new to try, and judging by Square's track record, it's almost certainly going to last.

Unrailed 2: Back on Track
Brings Back the Co-op Co-op Icon
Details:
-
Price: $19.99
-
Release date: June 11, 2026
-
Procedurally generated madness with tons of replay value
Unrailed 2: Back on Track expands on the cooperative survival formula of the original with larger, improved biomes and more sophisticated resource management systems that should test even the best of friendships to their absolute limit. Teams must rapidly build and maintain railroad tracks while navigating procedural disasters and environmental hazards, along with some pretty nasty bosses looking to poke holes in the team's otherwise robust plan.
The first game gave me so many hours of fun, and it always felt like a logical couch co-op party game, especially among non-gamers. This time with a full-fledged level editor and a whole host of new obstacles to overcome, I'm itching to jump on the rails and start an adventure.

Solarpunk
Take to heaven
Details:
-
Price: $22.99
-
Release date: June 8, 2026
-
A cozy survival game with a focus on aerial exploration
Solarpunk takes the survival-crafting genre in a more optimistic direction, replacing intensive resource management with a more cozy approach full of color and life. It's all about renewable energy systems and navigating a floating environment, not in the name of survival, but for the sheer joy and freedom that comes from feeling weightless.

Upcoming role-playing games that people are excited about
While many RPGs have been announced for 2026 and beyond, these upcoming role-playing games are particularly exciting.
I immediately fell for the game purely because of the aesthetics and the lack of restrictions on how or why to play the game. You can set up a huge village base or go exploring to your heart's content, and I for one strike a balance between the two, setting out on the horizon with no regard for the world, and then returning home to watch the sun rise on my beautiful creations.

Final Fantasy VII Reborn
The next step in the saga
Details:
-
Price: $49.99
-
Release date: June 3, 2026
-
A faithful yet new direction from the original
Final Fantasy VII Reborn is one of the biggest names in the RPG space, and now that it's coming to Switch 2, the revival story can continue to flourish on a much wider playing field. One of the big draws is the improved performance of the new rig, which given how large and graphically demanding many of the regions are, should give players the epic fantasy experience they love and deserve.
The visuals are really stunning and as a late adopter FF universe, I'm glad to be able to enjoy such an amazing story in a much more cinematic form, like many other players who may have missed the release of the original game. It's a faithful but new iteration of Cloud's iconic story and the last stop before the trilogy wraps up in a few years.

Say hello to the next 5 big single player games
Forget multiplayer, single player games are where it's at. 2026 has already brought some big names, but the year is still very young.
