Resident Evil could be heading to Japan in a future game
Kumazawa recently discussed the future Resident Evil franchise and had some fascinating things to say about the series possibly coming to Japan. There have been a lot of questions and theories about what will happen next Resident Evil game will have in store, and while it may not be the Japanese one Kumazawa is teasing, it seems likely that the country will eventually take center stage.
I think the Japanese setting is something that every Japanese Resident Evil fan has thought about, and I've considered it myself. Since the development team is primarily based in Japan, I think every member put a little thought into this. While Japan has not yet appeared as a game setting, it could appear sometime in the future.

Kumazawa noted that since Resident Evil dev team is based in Japan, it only makes sense to consider starting a new chapter somewhere in that area. Although his words are not an official confirmation that Japan Resident Evil the game is happening, it's still interesting that the developers thought about it. After the development team bold risks with the series led to Resident Evil RequiemIf successful, a trip to Japan would be another exciting shakeup that could prove to be a useful experiment for Capcom.
A new story set in Japan would be fascinating enough, but it's even more interesting to think about what that could mean for the characters of a hypothetical game. It's always possible that a longtime favorite Resident Evil characters like Leon, Jill, Claire, Ada and Chris could find themselves on a mission in Japan, but it also presents a chance to add brand new names to the mix. The last few Resident Evil the games did well to introduce new main characters such as Ethan Winters and his daughter Rosemary. Leon Kennedy is back Resident Evil Requiembut also added newcomer Grace Ashcroft for a fun double lead. A Japanese game would present a lot of interesting avenues for the series to take in terms of casting.

Another big horror franchise recently made its way to Japan. Resident Evil and Silent Hill were two of the most popular horror franchises in gaming, and the latter has finally left America Silent Hill fenvironment of Japan. Konami also continues to explore new locations. Silent Hill: Townfall is set in Scotland and marks another big departure. Resident Evil he may still have explored more lands than Silent Hill overall, but Silent Hill f showed how creepy Japan can be. AND Resident Evil The game taking place in the country seems to be only a matter of time, but that remains to be seen.
