Runeseeker Quest Walkthrough for PoE 2

Runeseeker is a quest in Path of Exile 2 Runes of Aldur league and it's all about helping a man named Farrow in his quest to learn more about Runesmithing. This task will last for the duration of the campaign, and if you're not careful, you can completely miss a few important steps here. In this PoE 2 guide, we'll share with you a complete list of places you must visit to complete the Runeseeker quest without having to travel back and forth between Campaign Acts.

  1. Talk to Farrow in Clearfell

  2. Look for the runestones in Act 1

  3. Enter the Runic Vault in the Lost Catacombs

  4. Look for the runestones in Act 2

  5. Enter the Skull of the Titan Runic Vault

  6. Look for the runestones in Act 3

  7. Enter the Runic Vault Mystic Refuge

  8. Look for the four pieces of the treasure map in Act 4

  9. Enter and clear the Plunder Point

  10. Enter the Deserted Post Runic Vault

Upon entering Clearfell for the first time, you'll soon encounter Farrow near a Kalguuran runic relic that's being attacked by some monsters. Clear out the monsters and talk to the NPC. It will teach you how to use Runic Remnants to craft a variety of different items. He will then ask you to search for Runestones across Ogham and enter a Runic Vault somewhere in the region. This second part will be repeated throughout the campaign.

Essentially, all you have to do in PoE 2 Runeseeker's job is to find some rune stones (or any large thing sticking out of the ground with magical runes engraved on it), enter the runic vault and learn some ancient runic magic. What makes Runeseeker a challenge to complete is that it forces you to comb entire maps to find Runestones. So that you don't miss any, here's a list of all runestone areas:

Act 1

  1. Grim Tangle

  2. Fishery

  3. Ogham farmland

Act 2

  1. Keth

  2. Bone pits

  3. Deshar

Act 3

  1. Jungle ruins

  2. Venom Crypts

  3. Azak God

Act 4

  1. None (although you have to get to Plunder's Point)

Once you find all the runestones in the act, the location of the rune vault will appear on the map of the region. You can also check your region map to see if you missed any runestones.

Showing the exact locations of the Runestones doesn't make much sense since the maps are randomly generated so you'll have to find them yourself once you get to the aforementioned locations.

Treasure Map Pieces & Plunder's Point

To complete the final part PoE 2 Runeseeker quest, you must find four pieces of a torn treasure map scattered around the Karui Archipelago in Act 4. You can find them in the following areas:

  1. Kedge Bay

  2. Shrike Island

  3. Whakapanu Island

  4. Kin Island

There are special corpses in each of these locations that will drop a piece of the treasure map when interacted with. So find all four of them take them to Makor (not Dannig) in Kingsmarch to reveal the location of Plunder's Point on the map.

Sail to Plunder Point, then complete the Expedition encounter there by placing and detonating bombs all over the island. This unlocks the last Runic Vault in the campaign and at that point the Runeseeker quest is done.
