While the Mangekyo Sharingan stood at the top as one of the incredibly powerful powers that were introduced in the Naruto series, over the years its importance and power began to pale in comparison to all the other powers that were introduced to the world at the time. For example, after the introduction of the Rinnegan, the Mangekyo Sharingan began to lose importance and by the time of the 4th Great Ninja War, it was practically obsolete, and even powers like Susanoo were practically useless against the likes of the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki or Kaguya Otsutsuki. Fortunately, Boruto the series has done a great job of correcting this major flaw of the Naruto series. In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 20, which was officially released on March 20, 2025, in V-jump Issue #5, Sarada Uchiha has officially harnessed the power of her Mangekyo Sharingan and used Ohirume. Sarada's Ohirume, who debuted in V-jump The number 5 of May 20, 2025 contains the power to produce and manipulate black holes. With this powerful eyepiece jutsu, Sarada can create up to four powerful black holes whose size she can control at will. At the same time, she can easily choose what the black hole targets and who it avoids, giving her full control over the technique's gravity. Coming to gravity itself, Boruto: The Two Blue Vortexes Chapters 21 and 30 showcased its immense firepower, powerful enough to take down Otsutsuki-level enemies. Sarada Uchiha took down Shinju Ryu in Boruto: Blue Vortex Chapter 21, which was released in V JUMP Issue #6 on June 20, 2025, in a single shot.

While Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan has immense power, its full potential can only be understood when directly compared to Sasuke's Rinnegan. Despite the latter ability being significantly more special, Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan actually has the ability to match her in combat and even surpass her in terms of offensive power.
Sasuke's special ability when it comes to the Rinnegan is Amenotejikara, which allows him to switch places with anything within a certain radius. This is an interesting additional ability, but not that powerful in the grand scheme of things. Meanwhile, Sarada's ability is so strong that she can basically crush the likes of Otsutsuki, provided she doesn't get absorbed. Of course, Sasuke's Rinnegan also has other Six Paths abilities, but those were removed from the Boruto series because he never uses them anyway.

Sarada's Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan has the potential to become the most overpowered dojutsu in Boruto
While Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan is extremely powerful, it also comes with a significant drawback, and that is blindness. Each Mangekyo Sharingan blinds the user over time, but as confirmed by Sakura Haruno v Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 34, the degree of blindness depends on the nature of the technology and how it is used. Sarada's technique is incredibly overpowered when it comes to the Mangekyo Sharingan, thus blinding her much faster than any other user. The only way Sarada can properly use her eyes is to make her Mangekyo Sharingan eternal. A direct path for Sarada to achieve this was not provided in the series. However, in time, one way or another, he gains access to the eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. When this happens, Sarada's eye powers will grow even further and she will reach an even higher level of power, probably equal to Hidari or Jura and rivaling the likes of Momoshiki and Ishiki Otsutsuki. The Mangekyo Sharingan is stronger than ever in the Boruto series and that's something we're happy to see.
