Each great power is in the final arc, evaluated

Jujutsu Kaisen The Shinjuku Showdown arc was a phenomenal experience that officially ended with chapter 271 in 2024. During its run, it featured some of the best battles we've seen in the story and also saw the strongest of wizards gather in one place and show off their true skills. Of course, the sheer volume of battles that took place in this arc meant that there were also a lot of incredible power-ups.

Gege Akutami, the creator of the series, showed a lot of amazing characters that reached new heights in this arc, and while there were many new improvements, only a handful can be considered the best.

RCT Hiromi Higuruma

Hiromi Higuruma focused on quite a bit in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc. After entering the raid against the King of Curses, he had to climb a mountain, but he was able to impress Sukuna, something few wizards could do. When Higuruma was chopped up by Sukuna, he was able to recover by figuring out how to use RCT on the spot, something that only a select few geniuses could do. Immediately afterwards, Gege Akutami officially declared him a talent on the same level as Gojo.

Higuruma domain amplification

Higuruma learned how to use the reverse curse technique and earned Sukuna's praise, but that wasn't all he did. During the fight against Sukuna, he also managed to learn the anti-domain technique on the spot. This technique was nothing but domain amplification. In fact, not only did he learn how to use domain amplification, but he was also able to effortlessly switch between using amplification and attacking Sukuna.

Sukuna compared his use of this switch to his own, and that is praise of the highest order. It was an incredible force that, in retrospect, deserves more respect.

Gojo's unique RCT circuit

Gojo received a very interesting power-up in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc. During his fight against Sukuna, he managed to hit several black bolts. In fact, Gojo fired four black bolts in a row, one of which caused tremendous damage even to the Curse King. After his Black Flashes, Gojo was able to create a unique reverse curse technique circuit in his brain. This allowed him to regain the RCT and essentially his burnt out cursed tech as well. While Gojo technically lost his RCT at this point, hitting the black flashes allowed him to create another circuit to use, making him even more adept at healing.

Sukuna's Upgrade To The Shrine

Sakuna also eventually received a major power-up in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc. Here, Sukuna wanted Gojo's Infinity to bypass the plan. Thanks to Mahoraga, he did it successfully. Sukuna basically learned how to increase and change the target of his technique from a mere individual to the entire world.

This allowed Sukun to slice through everything in the world, including infinity, and was able to create a new technique that basically kills with one shot called the World Splitting Dismantle.

Yuji's Reverse Cursed Technique

Yuji has progressed greatly during the 1 month timeskip and has managed to reach new levels of power, starting with gaining the ability to use the Reverse Cursed Technique. In Shinjuku Showdown, when Yuji entered the battle against Sukuna, he demonstrated the ability to heal from severe injuries.

Despite being hit multiple times by Sukun's powerful Cleaves, sometimes even at close range, Yuji still got up and recovered with RCT, which is very impressive. His direction was greatly aided by his cursed blood manipulation technique.

Yuji's anti-domain technique

Not only did Yuji learn to use the reverse curse technique, but he also managed to learn some anti-domain techniques. When Sukuna manifested his 99 second domain extension, Yuji countered it by using the power of the new shadow style and pulled out a simple domain.

This allowed him to hold back Sukun's slashes for some time. However, his domain eventually fell apart. Still, it did the job as it kept him from dying and being inundated with cuts from all sides.

Yuji's blood manipulation

Yuji Itadori, the protagonist of the series, eventually gained many powerful abilities in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc. There are some abilities that Yuji actually awakened before Showdown Shinjuku, but of course we only saw them in this arc. One such ability is Blood Manipulation.

While preparing for the Shinjuku Showdown, Yuji ended up consuming Death Paintings 4 through 9, essentially giving him a cursed blood manipulation technique. He used this power in the battle against Sukuna, and although his control over it was not perfect at the time, he was still a good user of the technique.

Yuji's Shrine Awakening

Quite easily, the biggest power-up Yuji got during the Shinjuku Showdown Arc was the Shrine Cursed Technique. Basically after the Black Flash hit Sukuna, Yuji gained his greatest power by unlocking his hidden potential and Awakening The Shrine. This cursed technique allows him to use powers like Cleave and Dismantle, among many other techniques.

Yuta's Gojo takeover

When it comes to Yuta Okkotsu, we saw a very unlikely power-up grant that was also temporary in the grand scheme of things. Basically, after Yuta fell in the battle with Sukuna, Rice managed to keep him alive just enough until he switched bodies using Kenjaku's cursed technique that he had previously copied.

Much to the fans' surprise, Yuta took over Gojo's body using the Body Hopping Cursed Technique. With it, Yuta gained access to this incredible body that basically gave him Six Eyes as well as the Limitless Cursed Technique and even allowed him to open the Unlimited Void. Additionally, due to the nature of Kenjaku's technique, Yuto's brain was engraved with Limitless, which he most likely took with him when he left Gojo's body.

Yuji Domain Extension

Arguably the biggest power-up in Shinjuku Showdown came at the very end, when Yuji Itadori finally learned how to use the domain extension. This technique was certainly not easy for him, but he mastered it flawlessly. Inside his domain, Yuji was stronger than anyone else, and his soul-splitting attacks posed a significant threat to Sukuna.

In particular, Yuji Itadori was able to use Soul Splitting Dismantle, which acted as a certain domain hit and landed directly on Sukuna, dealing significant damage and weakening his hold on Megumi. Yuji then ended the fight with another Black Flash, ending the King of Curses for good. This was the last upgrade in the entire original Jujutsu Kaisen manga and also ended the biggest of the battles in the most satisfying way. While Yuji gained more power-ups after the sequel series titled Modulo, the original manga made sure that his domain was the last skill he learned.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read through Manga Plus.
