Hito Hito no Mi was officially introduced vr One piece Chapter 138 of June 5, 2000 in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump #27. 26 years have passed since then, and Hito Hito no Mi continues to grow in importance in the overarching storyline One piece.
In Paramount War, specifically in Chapter 571, Eiichiro Ohara expanded on the Hito Hito no Mi concept by introducing a Daibutsu model owned by Sengoku on January 25, 2010. A few years later in One piece Chapter 1044, which was officially revealed on March 23, 2022, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #17, One piece officially introduced Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. Now, deep into the climax of the Elbaf arc, Eiichiro Oda has officially begun the reveal of the next two Hito Hito no Mi after the conclusion of Elbaf, making for an incredibly exciting storyline that we can't wait to see.
One Piece Chapter 1182 and 287 Set Reveal of Two New Hito Hito no Mi, Models Forest and Earth God
When One piece revealed the power of Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, opened the door to a whole new world of story possibilities. Immediately after this revelation, we have put together this exciting information regarding the deities One piece world to chapter 287 of the manga, which was officially published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump #37-38 on August 11, 2003. In this incredible chapter of the story, Eiichiro Oda demonstrated the existence of the various gods of the world. At the time, we mostly assumed that these gods were myths that existed in the One piece world. Now, with a category of mythic zoan types bringing myth to reality, all of these gods are slowly becoming real. One piece Chapter 287 officially introduced us to Earth God, Forest God, Rain God, and Sun God.
“Sun God, Rain God, Forest God, Earth God, please take the blood of this woman and save our village from disaster. — Shandian Elder, One Piece Chapter #287
In One Piece chapter 1182, published on May 10, 2026, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #24, Eiichiro Oda officially introduced us to the Rain God. Right after this revelation, it was revealed that all the Gods in chapter 287 actually exist in the One Piece world.
“Appearing to the Rhythm of Rain Prayers… Rain God Zaza!” — Saint Killingham, One Volume Chapter #1182
Since two of the four gods have already been revealed, there is a high probability that the other two gods will appear after the Elbaf arc concludes. The Final Saga of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece thus reveals all four gods that were first teased in One Piece chapter 287, making room for revealing the Hito Hito no Mi Forest God model and the Hito Hito no Mi Earth God model.
“Having a body with the powers of rubber and fighting in any way he likes, bringing smiles to people's faces, Liberation Warrior…also known as the Sun God, Nika!” – The Gorosei explain Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika in One Piece, Chapter #1044

One Piece: All Hito Hito no Mi Users, Model: Nika, Explained
Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika has more users. We may not know more about it in One Piece.
Why the god of rain, the god of the forest, and the god of the earth finally reveal themselves after Elbaf
Right now, Monkey D. Luffy is the only confirmed user of the Hito Hito no Mi God model. However, Rain God Zaza has already been confirmed to exist in the world One piece in chapter 1182, meaning that someone already has this devil fruit or the fruit remains waiting for someone to come and eat it. Since all of these fruits are Zoan, they can only be consumed by a person with the correct personality, as confirmed in Chapter 1044 on March 23, 2026.
“It's as if the Devil Fruit is trying to escape our grasp, and it very well could be. Zoan Fruits contain a will of their own, and this particular fruit has the name of God.” — The Five Elders Explain Why They Couldn't Get the Nika Fruit, One Piece Chapter #1044
Hito Hito no Mi, Model: As such, Zaza is meant for someone who opposes the World Government and uses the power of wind and rain like Dragon, or someone who has a thematic connection to the concept of rain like Nefertari Vivi. Besides Zaza, there are two more versions of God Hito Hito no Mi that will be introduced in the final saga One piece. These are the Hito Hito no Mi Forest God version and the Earth God version. Neither of these Devil Fruits have been revealed yet, but it will be interesting to see who Eiichiro Oda assigns them to when they are introduced later, post-conclusion One Piece's Elbaf Arch.
As things stand, Eiichiro Oda has already confirmed this One piece will begin its next arc in 2026 and that this arc will introduce the Straw Hat Pirates to the Final Island in the Grand Line. While the wording used here suggests that this island is a Laugh Tale, it could also be Lodestar Island, which is known to be the last island in the Grand Line itself, where Roger and his crew officially learned about the Poneglyphs, as explained in Chapter 966, which was officially released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #4-5, likely to be 2102 and incredibly exciting. they will probably introduce us to more variants of Hito Hito no Mi.
“It all started 13 years ago when we landed at the destination of the last Log Pose, where no one had gone before…a place called Lodestar Island! But when we disembarked, confused by what we could find…we realized it wasn't the last island!” — Gol D. Roger explains the Lodestar, One Piece Chapter #966
One Piece's Final Saga will be a battle of the gods
The final saga of Eiichiro Oda One piece is heavily focused on the Gods, as evidenced by Monkey D. Luffy's role as the Sun God Nik. Along with him are the warrior god Nidhoggr, the devil god Nero Imu, the rain god Zaza, and now with the conclusion of the Elbaf arc comes two more god appearances. In the One Piece Great War heavily teased in Chapter 1146 by Gunk on April 21, 2025, it is highly likely that all of these major gods will play a significant role, potentially even the Hellfire Serpent teased in One Piece Chapter 1138 titled “Harley” on February 3, 2025.
We're eager to see how all of these gods, especially those whose powers come from the Hito Hito no Mi variants, affect the story going forward. Just like in the Void Century 800 years ago, their powers will greatly make or break the world of One Piece in the final stage of the story, paving the way for a new world order to emerge, for better or for worse. Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of the series, is central to all of this. In both cases, we are in for an exciting experience and Eiichiro Oda will certainly not disappoint.
