Officially introduced incl One piece Chapter 1159 September 8, 2025 The Davy Clan is a legendary group of people from the Void Century period. It is believed that once upon a time, the world of One Piece was ruled by the Davy Clan, whose king was Davy D. Jones. Davy Clan was led by none other than Davy Jones, known as one of the most prominent characters in the history of the One Piece world.
Davy Clan's influence in West Blue was quite evident in the Elbaf Arc, with Blackbeard being its last known survivor. However, another Straw Hat pirate could also have a key connection to this clan, and that individual is none other than the musician who is currently the focus of the ongoing Esperia Kingdom flashback — Dead Bones Brook.
Why could Brook and Reuven be from Clan Davy
The Slam Hat Pirates musician Brook has officially joined Monkey D. Luffy One piece chapter 489, titled “The 8th Member”, which was published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump #13 on February 25, 2008. Since then, Brook has been an integral part of Luffy's crew, helping him in any way possible. When Brook is first introduced to us, it is revealed that his past is connected to the Rumbar Pirates. 52 years ago this crew entered the Grand Line only to be destroyed. Brook was revived by the powers of the Yomi Yomi no Mi, which he ate at an unknown time, and became the only crew member to be brought back to life. After this revival, Brook continued to get lost in the Florian Triangle until the Straw Hat Pirates finally rescued him and took him aboard.
“Thriller Bark once came from our homeland in West Blue. I hope they rest well on our home soil.” — Brook explains the meaning of West Blue
Brook's story that was revealed in the Thriller Bark Arc spanned chapters 486-488, and while that story was huge, it didn't really cover Brook's original past. The Elbaf arc shed significant light on Brook's story, beginning with chapter 1183 in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump #26 dated May 25, 2026. In the Esperia Kingdom flashback, Brook's past was properly shown for the very first time, and it was made clear that he was homeless and parentless.
“Dad, mom, and little brother, we're all starving and skin and bones. How am I even alive? I eat toads to survive!” — Brook briefly mentions his family, One Piece Chapter #1184
As an orphan, Brook had nothing for him. One thing that was immediately apparent from his character design was his resemblance to the child version of Marshall D. Teech, who was officially seen in God Valley in One Piece Chapter 1159 on September 8, 2025 in WSJ Issue #41.
The similarities between Brooke and Teech are somewhat puzzling. Both sport afros, both have similar facial features such as lips, eyes, and eyelashes, and at first glance, they almost look like brothers. Another interesting similarity between Brook and Blackbeard is that they both come from West Blue. While Blackbeard resided in the God Valley with the rest of the Davy Clan, Brook came from Esperia, another kingdom in the same sea that met the same fate. Brook's parents, as well as his siblings, who are hidden by Eiichiro Oda, further add fuel to the fire that connects him to the mysterious Davy Clan from the One Piece world.
In fact, Brook isn't even the only member who could be of the Davy Clan. One look at King Reuven of Esperia tells us that he too bears a striking resemblance to the members of the God Valley's Davy Clan. King Reuven was a powerful ruler in West Blue, and looking at his facial appearance, he looks extremely similar to Rocks D. Xebec, as well as Rocks' parents who were officially revealed to us in One Piece Chapter 1162.
There seems to be a strong Davy Clan influence in West Blue, which may also be why so many islands have disappeared over the years. This could also explain why Imu sent the Marines and the World Government to destroy Esperia and why the Sky Dragon arrived on the island a long time ago, as confirmed in One Piece Chapter 1185 of June 14, 2025 in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump #29.

One Piece is preparing for a sad day on July 5th with the hiatus announcement
The One Piece anime is going on hiatus very soon, which means a sad day for the series.
Why did the Davy Clan disperse like the D Clan
Davy Clan is scattered throughout the world of One Piece and only a handful of survivors. The vast majority of this clan resided in the God Valley and met their end 38 years ago. After the death of Rocks D. Xebca at the hands of Garling, the entire island sank to the bottom of the ocean, which meant that the entire family Rocks had there also sank. The only people who managed to escape from God Valley were Eris, who was originally from another clan, and Teech, who became the last known survivor of the Davy Clan.
“The unaligned lands are turning into lawless wastelands, aren't they? I heard another land in West Blue was destroyed!” — Esperia people, One Piece Chapter # 1185
That said, with the existence of the Davy population in West Blue for centuries, it's not unusual to think that some members hid on various islands, and Esperia might have been one of those places. This makes sense especially given that Esperia was destroyed and wiped off the map as confirmed by Brook v One piece Chapter 1183, officially published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump issue 26 on May 25, 2026. It makes a lot of sense for the members of the Davy Clan to be scattered all over the world, especially since they were hunted and hunted by the government. Maybe Brook's family had a strong Davy Clan connection and went into hiding on Esperia, eventually giving birth to Brook who could also be of the same clan.

Brook and Blackbeard could have a key connection in the Final Saga
Apart from the similarities in physical appearance as well as place of origin, there are other things that connect Brook and Blackbeard. First, Brook and Blackbeard have Devil Fruits with similar names. Brook has Yomi Yomi no Mi while Blackbeard has Yami Yami no Mi. The former Devil Fruit allows Brook to return from death itself, while Blackbeard's Devil Fruit allows him to control darkness. Both abilities connect to the darkness of the underworld in one way or another, which is an interesting connection between the two.
Their benefactors are also somewhat connected and look extremely similar. For Blackbeard it was none other than his father Rocks. For Brook, it was King Reuven. Additionally, both characters share a very similar, very interesting connection with whales. Brook formed a bond with Laboon after he started sailing with the Straw Pirates, while Blackbeard had none other than Whitebeard sailing on Moby Dick, another whale, completing another clever connection between the two by Eiichiro Oda.
In Brook and Blackbeard, Eiichiro Oda seems to be potentially painting two sides of the same coin. While both were being hunted, Brook grew to be carefree while Blackbeard grew to resent and fire for the world. Perhaps in the future there could be a meeting between Brooke and Blackbeard discussing their birth in the Davy line and that would certainly be an incredible development that all fans would enjoy.
