The Naruto the series has seen the rise and fall of some of the most powerful villains over the years, but none can match the charisma, as well as the narrative importance of Obito Uchiha and Madara Uchiha, who both stood tall as the main antagonists in Naruto's most important arc – The Fourth Great Ninja War. These two have created a lasting legacy for themselves, so that even ten years after Naruto's conclusion on November 10, 2014, they are still the talk of the fans.
Now, 12 years later, the sequel to Naruto, the so-called Borutohas officially revealed a new villain duo that is on its way to becoming one of the most iconic in the entire story. This is the duo of Hidari and Jura from the villain group Shinju, who both began to deepen their philosophical understanding of love in Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter #35, June 18, 2026.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 35 establishes the new strongest duo of Jura and Hidari
Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 35 was officially released in V-Jump Issue #8 on June 18, 2026. This new chapter marked the continuation of a new arc and served as a building block for larger events that would unfold later. As expected, after the fall of Shinju Mamushi in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 33 on April 20, 2026, this new chapter focused on the two remaining Shinju, Jura and Hidari. At the same time, it also focused on Boruto Uzumaki and Sarada Uchiha, two of the most important characters in the overarching storyline of the series.
“Mamushi died. Driven by his instinct, he gave in to his desires and finally burned out. Even though he was warped, this too was a form of love.” — Shinju Jura confirms Mamushi's death, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #35
While most of us expected Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto to focus directly on Hidari and leave Jura for the end, it looks like both Jura and Hidari will be acting together in this new arc. IN Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes In chapter 35, a new relationship appeared between them. This happened once Jura tried to understand Mamushi's philosophy and concluded that he was driven by nothing but lust. Hearing this, Hidari asked him why he brought him back specifically and not people like Ryu and Matsuri. The only answer Jura could come up with was that he would feel immense sadness if he had to live in a world without Hidari.
Hidari: You could have taken their Thorn Soul Bulb if you wanted to, so why didn't you? Or rather, why did you bring me back?
Jura: Good question. I never thought about it, but right now, trying to imagine a world without you, I was experiencing feelings of sadness.
— An exchange between Hidari and Jura, showing their budding relationship, Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter #35
Shockingly, Hidari, who is Sasuke's official Shunju clone, retaliated by stating that he would feel the same way about Jura. This new villain duo slowly grows closer and begins to experience an immense love for the other person, stemming from all the time they've spent together. It is because of this love and camaraderie that they will be extremely crucial in the new arc where they will fight together. We absolutely cannot wait to see the action unfold once the main battle begins.

After 9 years, Boruto's Own Jiraiya meets his official end
Jiraiya met his end in Naruto Against Pain and his clone Kashin Koji has now met his end in the latest version of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
Why Jura and Hidari are poised to be the next best duo in the franchise after Madara and Obito
Jura and Hidari were both their own characters at the beginning of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, after their introduction in Chapter 4 on November 20, 2023 in V-Jump Issue #1. However, the character development these two have had since then is pretty amazing. Villains often make or break a story arc, and in the case of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, the writers got a lot of things right, but the villains are one area where it's lacking. Now that Jura and Hidari are being developed in a great way, this minor weakness in the story is being addressed and we are seeing the birth of two of the best villains in the entire Naruto series right before our eyes.
Jura is already a great villain who is driven by the philosophical idea of love and wants to get to the bottom of it. Similarly, Hidari strives to gain more knowledge and understanding of his very existence, as well as his desire to get inside Sarada and consume her. These Shinju are slowly growing in importance as well as power, and this is a deadly duo that could potentially make them the best villain duo in the story since Obito and Madara.
“Obito, you are the backup I cultivated for my rebirth. I will let you pay off my debts!” — Madara Uchiha using Obito, fourth arc of the Great Ninja War
In the Fourth Great Ninja War, Obito and Madara showed Naruto and the ninja a desperation they had never seen before. The careful planning they displayed in this part of the story along with their immense power made them villains that will never be forgotten. Now Ikemoto is doing something similar with Jura and Hidari and we absolutely cannot wait to see their relationship go even further.

How Jura and Hidari can overcome Madara and Obito in the new arc of Blue Vortex
Masashi Kishimoto wrote a great story in the Fourth Great Ninja War, which officially ended in Naruto Chapter 690 on September 15, 2014, with the sealing of Kaguya Otsutsuki at the hands of Team 7. Since then, the author has paved the way for Boruto, who has had his ups and downs and received his fair share of criticism from fans. However, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex does a great job of correcting everything that was wrong with its manga predecessor. A lot of fan complaints have been addressed in the new series and the fact that the villains are actually on par with the best of Naruto like Pain, Orochimaru, Obito and Madara makes this series even more exciting.
“This world is strange. The more knowledge I gain, the more questions arise!” — Jura, Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes, Chapter #19
Both Jura and Hidari are already incredible characters, and as their story arc continues to develop, they could potentially even surpass the likes of Obito and Madara. They've already left the duo in the dust in terms of performance levels, but when it comes to character writing, beating Kishimoto's best villains won't be easy for Ikemoto. Still, we can only hope that he continues this level of character writing for both Jura and Hidari and develops them even further before killing them off in the end.
The latest chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is currently available to read for free on Manga Plus and Viz Media.
