Boruto officially upgrades Sasuke Uchiha's Kekkei Genkai

Sasuke Uchiha is one of the most powerful Kekkei Genkai users in the world Naruto and Boruto. At the very beginning of the series, Sasuke was blessed with the power of the Sharingan in Chapter #27 of Naruto. Since then, his eye Kekkei Genkai has grown immensely stronger. In Naruto Chapter 402, Sasuke awakened the power of the Mangekyou Sharingan. IN Naruto In chapter 488, he finally gained the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. Finally, Sasuke's enhancements were capped off by awakening the Rinnegan in Naruto Chapter 674 on May 12, 2014.

Now, 12 years later in Boruto era, Sasuke's underrated Mangekyo Sharingan Kekkei Genkai is getting an official upgrade that was much needed, especially after losing his Rinnegan.

The Boruto series took Sasuke's Rinnegan Kekkei Genkai in Chapter 53 to keep him from being defeated

One of the biggest downgrades Sasuke Uchiha eventually received in the sequel series came in Boruto: Naruto Next Generation Chapter 54 on January 20, 2021. In this chapter, Momoshiki Otsutsuki officially took over Boruto Uzumaki's body and used the little time he had to stab Sinneasuke's eye with his stong R Six. Roads, directly. This was done by writers Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto to make Sasuke Uchiha very nervous. With his Rinnegan out of the way, Sasuke lost his greatest source of power and along with it his Six Paths abilities, which was quite unfortunate for him. Since then, Sasuke has barely participated in any full-fledged battles and understandably has not been able to fight on the same level.

“I never thought you'd actually beat Isshiki, but oh well. Now you're the only nuisance left. I've now neutralized your pesky space-time ninjutsu here. There's no escape for you.” — Momoshiki Otsutsuki stabs Sasuke's Rinnegan, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter #53

When Code attacked Konoha in the following arc, both Sasuke and Naruto were quite helpless as they lost their greatest sources of power. However, three years have passed since then, and Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto have both strengthened Sasuke, even though he no longer has the Rinnegan. Due to training with Boruto Uzumaki during the timeskip, Sasuke Uchiha reached a much higher level of overall power. This was evident in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 5 on December 20, 2023, when he fought Koda, an individual even stronger than Jigen, and still managed to severely injure him by tearing out one of his eyes. All of this was made possible by a significant buff in terms of overall strength, but mainly the strengthening of his Kekkei Genkai Mangekyo Sharingan.

“The reaction that took place in the Code's body was particularly stunning. His fighting ability surpassed even Jigen's” – Amado confirms that the Code is stronger than Jigen, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter 56

Sasuke Uchiha's Mangekyo Sharingan is officially stronger than before in the two blue vortexes

IN Boruto: Two Blue VortexesSasuke Uchiha's Mangekyo Sharingan is much stronger than before. Since Sasuke primarily fights with his Dojutsu and no longer having the Rinnegan, he puts all the effort he can into making his Mangekyo Sharingan as good as it can be. This eye primarily enhances Sasuke's reading abilities in battle. The slightest movements can be seen with the Mangekyo Sharingan, and this eye also allows him to effectively counter these threats by giving him more vision.

At the same time, Sasuke's training allowed him to take full advantage of the Mangekyo Sharingan, which is probably why he was able to take Code's eye in the first place in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 5. Primarily, Sasuke's Mangekyo Sharingan grants him two unique abilities: Amaterasu and Kagutsuchi. Both of these powers are incredibly powerful and can basically destroy the vast majority of enemies in one hit. Sasuke also has an ultimate ability known as Susanoo, which he still has access to because he has awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan in both eyes. By combining these powers with the training he has undergone, he should be much stronger than before due to an overall higher strength level.

Right now, Sasuke's Mangekyo Sharingan should be able to blast a bigger Amaterasu and apply a shape transformation at a much higher level. His Susanoo should be much stronger than before considering Sasuke's overall strength. This means that even though he no longer has the Rinnegan, he hasn't weakened as a ninja overall. If anything, a case can be made that this version of Sasuke is even stronger than the Rinnegan version despite no longer having the Six Paths hax.

“During their training together to get stronger, Boruto and Sasuke's main food sources were fish and wild birds, which they hunted with Raiton and Shuriken, along with wild plants and mushrooms.” — Mikio Ikemoto confirms that Sasuke trained during the timeskip, Boruto Volume #8

Sasuke's new power upon his return will officially be greater than ever

Upon his return in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Sasuke Uchiha will likely be much stronger than ever before, including his Rinnegan version. This is simply based on the scaling given to us by Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto. To explain it simply, we have to look at Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter #38. In this chapter, Sasuke, along with the help of Naruto, took on Jigen in a fight, but the two were unable to hit him even once. Even with the use of his Amenotejikar's power, Sasuke's sneaky blows were easily blocked by Jigen in battle. As such, the strongest version of Sasuke with the Rinnegan couldn't even scratch him.

On the other hand, it is officially stated that Code far surpasses Jigen in terms of overall power. However, in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 5, released on December 20, 2023, vn V-Jump Issue #2, Sasuke Uchiha was able to put up quite a fight against him and even took out one of his eyes, dealing a severe blow and drastically weakening him. Sasuke accomplished this without even having the Rinnegan and being outnumbered by the Claw Grimes army. The fact that Sasuke was able to deeply injure someone even stronger than Jigen and inflict severe injuries on him without the help of Naruto Uzumaki clearly shows that he is at a much higher level of power at this point.

Code: Uchiha, you!!! How dare you take my eye?

Sasuke: Listen carefully, Boruto! We can't win against him now. So run away. Survive at all costs and build on the skills I have drilled into you. Then no one will be able to stop you.

— The conversation that takes place during Sasuke Vs Code when the Uchiha takes his eyes, Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter #5

What's more, when Sasuke returns, he will have even more upgrades in store for him as his sword has officially been upgraded by Sumire. In addition, Sasuke could also gain a potential buff through the Thorn Soul Bulb he receives after Hidari is taken down. All things considered, upon his return, Sasuke's Mangekyo Sharingan Kekkei Genkai will be on a completely different level and probably strong enough to match his own daughter's Ohirume Mangekyo Sharingan. This is a combo we've been eagerly waiting for.
