On February 3, 2025 in One piece Chapter 1138, published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #10, Eiichiro Oda revealed one of the most significant pieces of lore in the story through the ancient mural of Harley. Through this mural, Oda revealed some of the most important information about the war that had unfolded in the previous two worlds, including the Void Century. At the same time, the author also introduced us all to the constellation of gods that existed in the One Piece world and played a significant role in these wars, including the Sun God Niko, who has now returned as Monkey D. Luffy.
Among all these powerful divine entities, Eiichiro Oda also establishes a 3,000-year-old Mythical Zoan entity from the First World in one piece known as the Hellfire Serpent. For now, it remains unknown who the Serpent of Hellfire is, where he is currently located, and what role he will play in the Final Saga, but sooner or later it will probably be revealed.
One Piece Chapter 1138 officially established the Mythical Hellfire Serpent Zoan from 3000 years ago in the First World
One piece Chapter 1138 is quite possibly one of the most challenging chapters in the entire story Oda has written over the course of 29 years. This chapter introduced us to Harley and through her told the story of the world of One Piece which was divided into three different eras or “worlds”. The “First World” is an era that took place over a thousand years ago. Since One Piece Chapter 1144, officially released on March 31, 2025, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump #18, showed a laboratory in the country of Elbaf over 3,000 years ago, it is likely that this was the “First World” that was first mentioned in Harley and when Nika first descended on Harley's world.
“The narrative is divided into three distinct parts. The third world is said to refer to our current world, meaning it is a kind of prophecy.” — Saul explains the Three Worlds of Harley, One Piece Chapter #1138
According to Harley, it was during this time that the Sun God Nika descended upon the world as cruelty, slavery, and oppression reached enormous heights. All of these things resulted from humans finding a tremendous source of energy that various slaves were used to create. Due to the prayers of these slaves, the Sun God Nika and the Earth God, who according to Harley most certainly stood as the enemy of the Sun God, eventually descended, then collaborated with the Hellfire Serpent and destroyed the entire world in a catastrophic battle. This battle was of such magnitude that the entire world of One Piece was completely destroyed, paving the way for the “Second World” or the time period we now know as the “Void Century”.
“The Earth God was enraged and along with his serpent Hellfire shrouded the earth in death and darkness. And never shall they meet.” — First mention of Hellfire Serpent, One Piece Chapter # 1138
Strangely, Void Century doesn't mention the Hellfire Serpent, so it remains unclear what exactly happened to it. Harley depicts the Hellfire Serpent as a giant, monstrous calamity with the ability to spit fire. Who exactly the Serpent of Hellfire is remains unknown. Based on how Vegapunk described how One piece Devil Fruits work in chapter 1169, we know that through some individual's imagination, a Hellfire Serpent can easily be born as a Devil Fruit. In fact, it is likely that this Devil Fruit exists in the world of One Piece right now, lying idle, waiting for someone to consume it.

One Piece officially establishes Imu's New Devil God Form after 3 years
One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda is preparing to reveal Imu's Devil God form in the Elbaf Arc, which was first teased in Chapter 1085, 3 years ago.
Why The Hellfire Serpent Appears With The God Teased Earth In One Piece Chapter 287
The Hellfire Serpent is highly likely to appear in the final stretch of One Piece, because all the divine entities mentioned in Harley will be extremely important. Harley specifically mentions the four gods of the One Piece world, and they are:
-
The Sun God we know is Luffy.
-
The god of the sea, which is most certainly Poseidon, or in other words Shirahoshi.
-
An Earth God whose identity remains unknown at this time.
-
A forest god, whose identity we also do not know.
The Elbaf Arc of One Piece introduced the idea of the rain god Zaza in One Piece Chapter 1182, May 10, 2026, in Shueisha's WSJ Issue #24, though he remains unknown in terms of identity. The Elbaf mural also featured an ancient giant that resembled Loki and depicted the war god of Elbaf, Nidhoggr. Finally, there is also a devil god One piece the world, Nero Ima, represented in the Elbaf mural. Obviously, all the gods mentioned in Harley's story have already appeared or are starting to appear in the Final Saga of One Piece, which leaves behind the Hellfire Serpent, a mythical creature from a 3000-year-old era with massive firepower and world-destroying abilities.
“Appearing to the Rhythm of Rain Prayers… Rain God Zaza!” — Saint Killingham explains the rain god Zaza, Chapter #1182
Like all the other gods mentioned in Harley v One piece Chapter 1138, the Hellfire Serpent will also show up. In fact, in One Piece Chapter 287, all four major gods of the One Piece world were mentioned for the very first time, namely the Sun God, the Rain God, the Earth God, and the Forest God. These gods are slowly but surely revealing themselves one by one. Since the Earth God is intrinsically linked to the Hellfire Serpent, as made clear in Harley, the two will likely debut together.
“Sun God, Rain God, Forest God, Earth God, please take the blood of this woman and save our village from disaster. – Shandian Elder Reveals the 4 Gods, One Piece Chapter #287
One Piece's Last Stretch will officially introduce some overcome mythic zoans
So far in the Final Saga of One Piece, we have seen the introduction of several powerful God entities such as the Sun God Nika, the Devil God Nero Imu, the God of War Loki, and the God of Rain Zaza.
All the other gods are yet to be revealed, but as the story continues in the final stretch, they will all be revealed to us one by one. For now, our eyes are on the main reveal of the God of the Forest, the God of the Earth, the Hellfire Serpent, as well as the true identity of the rain god Zaza. As Elbaf approaches its end and finally wraps up in 2026, Eiichiro Oda begins to reveal these divine entities to us one by one.
