The Forza Horizon 6 save bug may finally be fixed

One of the notorious problems with Forza Horizon 6 seemingly fixed for good, ensuring that player save data is no longer negatively affected. In what always seems to be a massive launch, Forza Horizon 6 still managed to decimate existing records, even approaching nearly 200,000 on Steam during the game's Early Access period. Needless to say, there was a lot of excitement for fans to explore the Japanese version of Playground.

Despite impressive sales and player numbers, it wasn't a flawless start. One of the biggest problems that fans reported was the problem Forza Horizon 6 save lost data. Reports started coming in about a week after the game launched, with some players claiming that their entire progress in the campaign had been completely wiped. Not too long after, Playground Games acknowledged the bug and began working on a fix, offering workarounds to prevent save data corruption. Any patch that did arrive could only reduce the chance of the save error occurring, but a more permanent fix would take a bit longer.

A new tweet from the official Forza support account has highlighted a new Xbox Series X/S console update that players can now download. According to reports, the console update would be able to resolve “some known data loss scenarios in Forza Horizon 6.

Unfortunately, details of what exactly was changed or fixed were not shared. While the Forza support post refers to the Xbox, the June 30 patch notes for the latest system update remain vague at best, only stating that the patch brought “general stability and performance improvements.” so for now Forza Horizon 6 players will have to take the studio's word that the frustrating save bug has not only been neutralized, but that it won't be coming back.

While the save bug was one of the bigger issues that affected Forza Horizon 6he wasn't the only one. Not too bad, players started reporting that Drivatar's AI was seemingly overtuned, making races much more difficult than they should have been. In fact, the community rallied around a commonality Forza Horizon 6 AI villain named Bowie_knife99. Drivatar quickly became the focus of memes and jokes online and was the main cause of everything bad that happened. Fortunately, Playground Games managed to apply an update that brought these racers back into line.

Another issue that affected players was The Eliminator, a mode that brings a battle royale-style experience to the game. Unfortunately, there was an exploit that allowed players to manage billions of in-game currency, essentially breaking it Forza Horizon 6's economy and auction house. In response, Playground Games disabled this part of the game so they could work on a fix, but the studio gave players a gesture of goodwill for their trouble, giving away a free 2021 McLaren Saber in Forza Horizon 6 in addition to the patch that resolved the exploit.
