It's time to welcome back Naruto and Sasuke to Boruto: Two Blue Vortex

Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha are two of the most important characters in the entire series Naruto franchises and v Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes. The two are the core of a franchise that is loved by fans of all ages. This means that despite their immense importance, these two were cut from the plot to allow the next generation of shinobi to flourish around the timeskip.

IN Boruto Chapter 77, Naruto Uzumaki was officially sealed by Kawaki using the Daikokuten while Sasuke was turned into a Tree by Claw Grime during the timeskip. After three long years of waiting, it is now time for Naruto and Sasuke to return to the scene, as officially facilitated in the post-Mamushi arc, which officially began on June 18, 2026. Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 36 expected on July 20, 2026, it's time for the story to move towards the official return of these two legends of Konoha.

After the death of Shinju Mamushi v Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 33, officially released on April 20, 2026, in V-Jump Issue #6, the return of Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha is now much closer than ever. The current arc, that is the Post-Mamushi arc Boruto: Two Blue Vortexesofficially started in chapter 35, released in V-jump Issue #8 of June 18, 2026. This arc marked the beginning of a new confrontation with the last two remaining Shinju, with the Code thrown into the mix. On the protagonist side, it seems to focus mainly on three individuals, namely Boruto Uzumaki, Sarado Uchiha, and Kawaki.

Boruto: Sarada, I want you to let them capture you. It will probably take you right to their base. But don't worry, I'll fly straight to you using those symbols I just gave you.

Sarada: I see, reverse trap.

— Boruto and Sarada star in the new Hidari arc, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #35

When Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes series began, it seemed that the return of both Naruto and Sasuke would have to wait for their return as Shinju was looming. However, now the vast majority of them are already dead, and Shinju Hidari will likely be the target of this new arc. With the threat of the Shinju slowly dying one by one, this is the perfect opportunity for Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto to officially bring back Naruto Uzumaki as well as Sasuke Uchiha.

The main reason these two were cut from the story was because the new generation was stronger and had achieved greater abilities. Now it can probably be said that the new generation is even stronger than Naruto and Sasuke, especially in the case of Boruto, Sarada and Kawaki. The need for these characters to remain on the sidelines no longer exists. They can be brought back and fight their own battles to stand by the new generation and help them with their experiences. This is exactly why Boruto's post-Mamushi arc, which officially began on June 18, 2026, leads the story to the eventual return of both Naruto and Sasuke, starting with the latter.

The Rinnegan is a god-like power that was unfortunately nerfed and surpassed by the new Kekkei Genkai in the Boruto series.

Why is Sasuke Uchiha destined to return after the next battle against Hidari

The first of the two to return will be Sasuke Uchiha, as Hidari will fall in the arc after Mamushi. Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes. IN Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 35, Hidari and Jura started discussing the concept of love again. For the first time ever, Jura explained to the first that he would feel immense sadness if he had to live in a world without him. This places a huge death flag on Hidari's head and makes room for a massive boost for Jura himself, resulting from the loss of love. So it's highly likely that in this new arc, Hidari will be targeted and officially killed at one point or another.

Hidari: You could have taken their Thorn Soul Bulb if you wanted to, so why didn't you? Or rather, why did you bring me back?

Jura: Good question. I never thought about it, but right now, trying to imagine a world without you, I was experiencing feelings of sadness.

— Foreshadowing Hidari's death, Boruto: The Two Blue Vortexes, Chapter #35

Once Hidari is killed, Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes officially paving the way for Sasuke to return. By taking Hidari's Thorn Soul Bulb and shoving it into the Tree that Sasuke is locked in, the Uchiha will officially return after three long years of waiting and we will finally have one of the two legends back. At the same time, Jura will increase significantly, giving Sasuke a huge role to play in the following arcs to facilitate the return of Naruto Uzumaki, the Seventh Hokage of Konoha.

“Sorry, you'll have to wait a little longer Master Sasuke.” — Boruto Uzumaki fails to save Sasuke, Boruto: The Two Blue Vortexes Chapter #4

Naruto's return will be tied to Jura and Kawaki

Naruto Return Jura Kawaki Boruto

Since Sasuke is officially set to return at the end of the Post-Mamushi arc, we have to look at Naruto's case, which is quite special. Technically, Naruto probably won't return until the very end of the Boruto series, after the battle between Kawaki and Boruto. This was teased in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter #1, released on May 9, 2016, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump #23. However, Jura, the strongest of the Shinju, is already aware of Naruto's whereabouts as well as the fact that he is alive.

“I visited Konoha a while ago and was shocked to know that the Seventh Hokage had passed away. But looking into your eyes, I'm convinced that Naruto Uzumaki is still alive, right?” — Jura Confirms Naruto's Fate, Boruto: The Two Blue Vortexes, Chapter #24

After Jura's power is due to Hidari's death, a confrontation between him and the Seventh Hokage is very likely. It's even possible that Jura frees Naruto Uzumaki in an attempt to absorb him, and that could be where Naruto returns. In other words, Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto made room for Naruto Uzumaki to return to the arc after the fall of Hidari.

While it is implied that Naruto will not return until the end of the Boruto vs Kawaki match, the wording Kawaki used is not clear. Kawaki only states that he will send Boruto to the same location as the Seventh, but does not specifically say whether the Seventh is still there or not. As such, it could simply mean that Kawaki intends to send Boruto to the Daikokuten dimension where the Seventh Hokage once was. All we have to do is sit patiently and wait, but with each passing chapter, the return of these two legends is getting closer. Sasuke's return will likely come before the end of this ongoing arc, and Naruto's return will likely follow in the arc after, finally giving us back our two most beloved Shinobi.
